Duties

" r# r. C7 S( s; ?0 T6 g * Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program
+ ]$ a$ a( g9 k6 D8 N( h# z/ i0 e( Z * Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities1 d$ n1 l2 K. ^4 @( U! |
* Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes( l# ~- q* c* x" v
* Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat7 _1 a. F- k2 v0 F0 {' t
* Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders
- v# |6 ^3 H1 r * Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements
4 `% t, l- f) \4 H! _* h* h/ y * Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs$ ?' y, P! y2 z, D6 v6 d# t
* Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director$ c$ [7 L, m( d; C5 o- Y
* Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning

. O+ Q7 ]- v8 z1 t * Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media
] h6 ^9 q7 l3 L i& q * Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results
& z* J* z2 d; z6 V5 N * Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies

Qualifications `3 N( m4 w: z2 W
; d/ W3 T# h$ X8 _
* Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred
# V: E. T7 \" s* [" g* c/ A; b * Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth+ g& g, {, h$ B; Q
* Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset0 C8 x: D6 w$ R! |# g
* Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies
1 E' L" k' ^2 y- C( d) f: n * Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills
3 z3 [4 Q9 W: W) D! |* v; U * Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning
* ^0 r0 Z6 l1 u8 h2 i * Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
