Duties

* Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program# a+ C7 Z6 F( K* c6 y3 `
* Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities
: U: j% r$ U- ?5 a% h6 m" k/ Z * Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes
& L# t9 I" o, ~ * Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat* t0 a3 [7 h( O" y, _" s% N
* Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders8 p" `, ~, Z9 ^; T) H5 P
* Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements4 [; x1 X. E1 T
* Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs
D/ t N8 A: a! e5 a * Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director7 y, v7 ~7 V6 @( T* f' ]$ q. \
* Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning
8 W u. Q \1 n2 M * Develops high quality promotional and educational materials \0 ?/ A+ g' h, D1 s
* Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media
5 `1 H2 V* Z" \2 u3 n4 c9 T( r * Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results8 T: Z: @5 S; k; y; S$ `2 G; \
* Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies5 Y1 }; |5 U# t! e: p n" T

# o' Y& k/ K/ Q3 n: r
* Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred
# }* c! |) a% Q# z/ b * Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
3 h- J( F1 \) S+ h! c* s1 ^$ \8 W * Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset M/ _5 O( e3 c# i
* Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies
( i) M' y$ i( P K9 G- a * Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills
' b' a U! W% p5 C * Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning
5 S( @/ A& X* i5 `/ O4 i6 f9 _% k * Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
