9 B9 U7 `. E# EDuties

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
1 t1 X* S; K! Y6 A    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
+ L! Y/ X+ I4 r& |6 I    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
: v1 q' `9 t# G2 R" S    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
) ~4 ?! F0 |( F4 t4 K    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
1 {/ v9 s. F. i8 V    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
& C% k; p) i9 g- u& a! y: P+ j$ e. C    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
8 Y/ |4 s) c1 G8 t' g    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
9 s2 A* b' O/ h& `    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
# k0 ~, r. [& ^0 U) [. x. _    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
. t4 `$ o9 G* }+ J. W, O    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
  C& e4 k$ l4 {" O# s& V. R7 Z    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
9 n, e  [3 z" Q# a: `; L3 w8 L    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
/ {1 Y7 f& I; |( v4 f    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
! V6 O6 Z  d% o5 o, S    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
