Duties

1 d7 L- j4 Q7 R& K6 I    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
1 M" i9 S& c3 `9 R2 Z3 ~    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
& E; |- u& m/ e' A( P    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
) F1 l8 ]5 g# b9 X" F- V- c( S& J    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
3 n& L" o7 H5 J    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
$ Z9 m/ O/ e2 ^! F4 W" q    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
: ^' o1 E) d9 `7 d    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

% L7 p% x/ j6 R( xQualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies

    * Fundraising skills an asset
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
