1 d7 L- j4 Q7 R& K6 I    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
1 M" i9 S& c3 `9 R2 Z3 ~    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group; {$ D1 B4 G: T2 A" ]  r8 ]
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators% p! e8 o3 P' {! X
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations6 l& P, k$ A  U* h* a0 r
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
& E; |- u& m/ e' A( P    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses9 q' u5 {: y2 s- w( g* P
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth! S! I2 K3 P* T, `) j
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
) F1 l8 ]5 g# b9 X" F- V- c( S& J    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment6 _8 [" ]' A  @& l3 q6 z, o9 U" P
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
3 n& L" o7 H5 J    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
$ Z9 m/ O/ e2 ^! F4 W" q    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
: ^' o1 E) d9 `7 d    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities4 g" o7 s+ E- h' o
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools! Q$ ?% V8 {' \! A, Y1 V

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline4 z& y; S) p8 f: v
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth2 k- g2 ~! ^# v( y( U- Z
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
+ I5 k8 j% X3 }3 o- u8 ?    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
. f/ g0 S. B' [9 |9 l  L2 d    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community9 G0 U; o6 `3 \( a- W1 N

    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills! D* w9 `  ^3 z+ ?  i
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills& h3 T: U7 c. ^- i6 q2 B' M* X# i
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills- }0 V; H5 G0 K
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
4 f! O8 m( P# a- k: s! ]9 j- v    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset- ~2 E! ~  g0 Y( d8 O/ }0 O5 M
