Position: Community Organizer / Location: Edmonton / Terms: work hours are flexible & variable with some requirement to attend evening and occasionally, weekend meetings / Salary: competitive / Closing Date: August 22, 2008.

2 ]1 P8 v* f+ bPosition Abstract: as a community organizer you will be responsible for providing training to residents of an inner city community who are actively involved in creating strategies for a healthier neighbourhood. Working towards ensuring wide participation by residents/organizations in the local community you will assist in reinforcing inclusivity.

P! P3 u2 V5 S" SPLUS: a capable advocate for alternative dispute resolution, you will liaise between the community and elected officials/municipal administration, assisting in the development of a strong working relationship between these groups. 9 e2 @# T4 O9 Y6 w; ^
$ b" M9 C7 F- m& e4 t& v
Education & Experience: the position calls for an individual with education in the humanities or related field + 2 years experience in the field of community organizing. Special interest in ecological literacy and sustainable communities will be an asset.

Other Skills: the successful candidate will have a strong background in building group capacity & seeing projects through to completion. There is a significant element of research and an opportunity for creativity in assisting residents to address community challenges. Working in a non profit environment will mean that experience in sourcing/writing grant proposals is an asset. % |$ o" b, ]# S) v
