* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
5 {1 k6 g7 H; s! ]9 |) [& F7 @ * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography' d0 n# P# A) c, g9 m+ b
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
3 O1 C, g, [9 c" X4 ~* J1 L * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client+ ^% A: V$ I5 ^+ O" [
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry& M# V% ]$ |1 h' x$ Q% ]
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
5 h2 X' p7 z0 H5 K& j * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab

* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS): m0 G2 w/ P( h9 M+ W4 n- A9 Y

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
* i7 c: s7 V& C. i- A, }3 w- c * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
5 w& |! y8 S& }, V; A * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel. s" l/ I0 P, z) C! G( T+ I D2 q
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures) L7 B; p- K7 k1 p8 Q/ |2 [; D
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
