Duties

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
& _% m8 e! Z0 b3 D0 I2 X, l7 r * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography' t/ K9 ^1 u+ e& D
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques/ G$ S7 m8 j" c9 r4 H
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client( I& ^, J+ C6 C$ m5 |2 A2 n3 {
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
2 l9 Z! V; U! ]' S, k * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals( O: f$ v8 F# q/ U _, \
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab z) C, z7 [/ ]. W6 o
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices( |, {% K; |; b
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
; q, U, r5 V: \' q$ H* [0 Q1 f0 g. I9 `6 E2 V' h
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred2 [4 K- j, h7 o% S8 A
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)& r( U) y5 C* k( l6 X6 k' b
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
' g O- J8 v% x, C1 I * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures- @; u' e) W& Z2 P
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment2 u5 f+ M* a0 z
