Full time position in LINC Program; Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30
" o4 M9 A# j: r; S1 i4 C; g4 mThe Student Support Specialist is primarily responsible to monitor and maintain the daytime LINC classes and to assist with inquiries, student placement and needs in the LINC Morning and Afternoon programs. The Student Support Spcialist works closely with and is accountable to the ESL Manager.
+ Q/ `, E; Q8 s# \5 K" Z( _Responsibilities:

5 x+ B# \& d( G" ^! A) I8 UAnswer Daytime inquiries from current and prospective students and make decisions as required;
•
! T7 \' H$ u& j: G# ]Monitor Daytime student attendance and address attendance issues as they arise;
•
. _6 _4 y$ b% f) i/ [' ^! XProvide orientation to new students arriving throughout the session;
•
2 D4 Z( |  ?3 uPerform Daytime student intake/exit procedures and maintain student records (with the assistance of the LINC Program Assistant);

9 Z/ A0 d, z- g  H, f+ x4 mRespond to ILVARC inquiries about Daytime program details and students’ training histories;
•
Provide updates to the ESL Manager about the changes in LINC classes on a regular basis;
•
Maintain students’ database on a daily basis, entering any necessary changes in their hours & benchmarks;
•
2 [/ p" ?& p1 mProvide weekly reports on Daytime class registration, “seats available” to ILVARC; monthly reports (numerical and narrative) to the ESL Manager for CIC;
•
Communicate with teachers any changes in students’ status;

- O% y, g& X7 ~, ?: l: o) n+ HCollaborate with the Evening LINC Program Coordinator in transfering students to different classes and maintaining their files;

Attend meetings as requested.

•
University degree, preferably in TESL or Education;
•
: G0 c% O; |1 \% c$ u" CFamiliarity with CLBs/ at least one year experience teaching in an ESL classroom, preferably in a LINC program;
/ _6 `8 P; ~3 X2 T! x+ Q, `•
Certification in TESL is an asset;
$ a  ?4 y8 p3 L9 R•
: f: t( [5 w# J4 @Experience working in a cross-cultural environment;
1 `: R7 l' y: Y2 v$ h+ D1 `•
Sensitive and able to exercise good judgement with regard to the students’ issues;

Strong organizational skills and accuracy.
