Responsibilities include:

9 @: w7 I- l+ O4 _$ n3 r1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)4 _! x7 v) w* G/ a. e
• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department+ [1 D9 q, S) p5 K7 u6 S
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals3 H3 v! A/ ~* H5 J, r: p
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
$ I! ?2 t) c8 d• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals
6 t" F& C; F# x. O• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)3 @" W& p( Q+ X8 h
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.5 I- p/ D: _9 N8 {, }# s S

3. Tracking System
* e# M7 b7 m# f4 A# s' \5 A+ ~• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s 8 ]6 z3 [, q* D' r, V" K" u; f

Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. . N m4 U* O! y e( R( M. s5 B. m8 c# v, _

This is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.1 ?) n) G* U C1 w5 ?
