Responsibilities include:
8 W# | F$ M* t9 P ; S" [8 w2 W: v) w
1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
& m" m+ r& b; \7 J& j& o) `2 u• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department; ?4 D! f' o- J! Y9 d) V. ^
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
' N, V; K% X3 `4 l" S, ^2 X& @! B• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored" n0 e! I9 {" }) ~
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals+ ^ V# ~* t6 f% s$ R4 E9 c
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

" Z, k( h& W- |2 |2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
! L+ w# e' k" V• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.$ b2 W& o" Q @. m9 g+ s
& m+ P! |( }3 O; |& O# n, M3. Tracking System( `1 u" y6 o* Q' ~
• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s 5 m% A+ h& K W2 j9 \
% K6 _. O. h. ?" ]4 g
Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.
