Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
$ y' S/ c$ S% b# m3 c, ^- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services; H3 [( N7 N2 O
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
0 @: J: c2 h% V& E a( L2 E+ m- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
. L% k& J) h% `9 Z- coordinate good will activities0 \1 G) U8 T/ V5 k; J8 b5 `3 c
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members6 m& h0 |+ J4 r _" ?. M
- submit information for community news " ^" {; y% e- u) B( ?5 G% b
- prepare and send AGM information to members
+ I+ Q' r9 e5 X, [ z1 ]* s- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.
- s9 @1 K' p9 A7 e0 D* v! l- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

H$ k3 g" ^+ o. K6 x- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre' m% s. Y- c+ {% @( O- R
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services2 r8 }/ P! a% o
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
J8 p* D. h) n% j* B8 I4 z3 O- write quarterly and final reports for ISP3 W/ e1 ^ w% L, h& ]5 s
- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time% r9 y9 F: U3 N: a& B5 _
- update membership database

Qualifications/ v% i* c; J( h" {/ _! I5 x
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
y5 {% v! ?2 C; n& X: W- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
, ]3 P$ Y u) r7 @: U, Y0 j- experience in community work and immigrant services5 h: e7 z& D4 R% B* L
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
; @6 T) v- K9 d9 N1 K$ z- leadership skills- t+ ~$ ]: O$ V9 T
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
