Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services5 v- c1 X3 |7 Z( E b
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services

- coordinate good will activities+ }- p3 T/ C# D* ^0 b8 m t
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members

- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications9 U+ s9 R. h$ O6 m3 ]
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 8 E* A- B5 d1 G4 T; K; v( g V
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
7 L s2 p& n# ]. j7 @% @, I- experience in community work and immigrant services
; D r! B9 S1 I- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars$ m* x8 T* K4 @
- leadership skills
