Position title: Community Development Worker

I2 t3 x3 G' g1 x3 z) K9 xPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community, d7 L$ a. Y/ {8 W
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
" [' h& h( ~4 z2 w% Q. H! e6 }- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
9 h3 }/ E* k. C- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies6 j* {' y& }# Q9 C7 j
- coordinate good will activities
. p) |* a1 E% X- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members: |; r- {7 z3 `0 o& q# }
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services; ~$ D/ H, s. r9 g
- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP % ]$ j2 A/ J7 ]1 w+ K
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

Qualifications
7 Z2 e8 N& Q; A% H; O. l4 m- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education / B8 Y3 j- d1 Q! ?- @) w* r
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills8 W& H3 g% l% v9 z% y1 i- L
- experience in community work and immigrant services& n1 s* d+ n( q L& b
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars3 ?: Y4 u9 k. L/ s8 r/ d
- leadership skills
) D2 k" P& v) b$ b7 Y g- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills7 W/ W% U. D8 k3 }
