( e* I: A3 o0 N4 X! s, z' QCALGARY — Screams filled the air after a 17-year-old teen was killed after being struck in the head with a pickaxe at a house party. 1 L& m, T( [- D- L3 ]
* M' A- G# { xNeighbours said about 100 teens were at a house in southeast Calgary when the attack happened in a detached garage about 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

Lisa Poole, who lives two doors down from where the teen died, rushed outside when she heard a lot of screaming. + m0 Z# c( E3 L/ `; \

I saw one boy laying there with a pickaxe stuck through the front of his head and some blood on the ground ... I haven’t slept at all and I can’t get that picture out of my head.”

“I was standing out back having a cigarette then I heard a kid screaming, ‘They killed him,’ then they all scattered,” said Jeff, who didn’t want to give his last name. % t; F6 B# R$ h4 z& x3 X

Jeff said two high school-aged girls live at the house with their mother. He said large parties are common at the residence. 7 R( { Z/ E; ~' ]

Chris Briggs, who grew up in the same neighbourhood and was friends with McKay, described him as nice guy and avid athlete. 1 @; d9 Z6 X- L$ ^8 c% H$ S

“We’re talking to a bunch of people who were there to find out what happened,” he said.
