extensive, and are targeted at the all round smooth operation and

venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that

2. Marketing and Promotion' ~: }/ k* x4 r+ O! w3 @2 T
8 p3 K" N( Y: C( b1 O4 f$ Va. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that / a( s5 D/ D6 D5 y/ H: o
focuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty, r/ s/ ` {6 q
students, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis.
2 }3 g, h6 w( M" ^% W* cThis strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:
6 M. `2 ?4 [- j, P· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
2 ?" F0 U3 N$ k, J- p8 K# cTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
) p, U$ Y2 s8 P$ _. P& Etake advantage of other internal and external advertising
# V' r% k, N1 ]% X8 P7 \opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional 3 |0 c3 j! T% t6 G+ p
literature on an ongoing basis.6 N4 N. }, v9 s7 e0 d! C
· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.) H; L2 J2 n# ^9 {! I1 M
· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the 3 `/ H; X* u8 q
use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar." M1 ~3 U+ X7 @- r' t! `- W
· To develop new external clients for the venues., k+ E3 U9 I$ ^* X; i$ z$ [% @+ h- G

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities
6 c9 `& N5 H" i+ k- g2 C) b& x, V* _3 y9 n/ u) M1 r) p
a. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost- 1 A- E" q* V# ]& H
effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the - R- b% Y4 z. g1 Q0 N) Y1 f8 g
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and
6 ^. J* y& b. ocontribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of
; m6 c% A. K) l* p, fthe renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited - [" K$ K9 w& P; w! m5 q
to, the following:0 |+ O6 B5 d) T; k( P
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues ; b7 X2 b) N2 E N% K
and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, 0 N, M+ n: e, n
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.
+ a. q4 C- |4 ~0 @) v To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at * q* u7 O$ H$ ?8 H& [2 W
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such
7 n# U. X4 b- ?& a& oschedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and
. X$ |4 i. L+ ?cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
4 X0 l) M$ V$ T' }% Zis in operation or needs to be in operation.. w8 d4 ]$ K) M' I
· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure * N$ a% w9 k! Q! b. Y7 J
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to , v/ ^, f& _- n; o( ^" u( X. Z
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
* A" Q5 A1 i5 V) urenters needs are met.6 f: F9 M8 @/ p/ Z( S
· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
$ n6 A4 A4 V' |9 D, i0 X: mand attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of
$ D* o7 ~9 z6 n' Tthe roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and # U$ P% H2 A8 I) y" B3 }" e7 l0 w9 U% @. N
effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and
$ R) ~5 a0 O1 T }. m4 Nappropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual
- z* t( J6 b) X* Ris kep up-to-date at all times.
' R$ C6 Z3 X' d· To ensure all staff are trained in and committed to providing
9 S% h8 u6 G0 L! _2 d9 ]' Texcellent customer service to all renters.5 h. J7 N. L6 C& L2 r
· To work with the Technical Director to arrange staff / H8 u! ?* A' n" J7 ~* q3 E Y
scheduling. To handle payroll related matters, under the guidance ! i Q; k1 J0 l: e1 e4 F" n4 X4 H
and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning
8 o$ `' a, ?0 C( ithe staff of the venues.
9 X, B4 C! P$ a+ U; o/ A8 ]2 h$ Q· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure
: f$ g% v! n/ G- p2 Tthe appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.. O& H9 W' g3 V
· Working with the Manager of Programming and Venues to ensure " N! y# c% \1 S) b K2 U
that additional requests such as licensed receptions are arranged.& p3 z9 W* o2 \" K3 H

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the

includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:

Programming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets

· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively
# [ V2 R7 X$ x; breflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects

· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and 7 R' u- R4 v/ X* G$ p& B
administrative documentation covering the venues to be used in the

' P* }, k0 P" w6 F' F, Aother reports as may be necessary.

with all financial and administrative procedures, with the SU´s

aimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of

· To ensure the existence of adequate, effective and accurate job
( q# z7 o' Y/ b. {7 A2 {costing systems to be used in connection with the determination and 5 k& C) J9 J( ]) h# V ^
setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for 0 `7 [( W; Y& u- P g
events held in the Horowitz Theatre.6 l( H5 U( l1 ~0 m6 x0 z9 w3 l! U
· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with
" E l1 t5 a% y3 Ythe billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

and administrative procedures and systems in a manner which reflects ' F- w' @5 Q" h7 T7 v3 _( o% Z
the requirements of the SU´s Manager of Programming and Venues and
" v$ U2 ~ v& f! p0 N% tManager of Finance and Administration, and in a manner which % o! e d) U! R0 x9 ~; w
contributes positively to the smooth operation and success of the

a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in
" i, ^$ M6 L# Trenting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and 5 }: }# W8 t/ H$ A; T. h& P# P
needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the 0 L5 N, w* p$ x, t
venues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
0 A" M; d9 I0 i# m) E* z' q5 ]" R4 S
· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as
; ~: i9 J! J) cmay be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this ! \1 P: `( q" N1 b* q% s6 ?
is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes : X) R: c+ _# t$ W! [" K
in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,
* W+ t- G _9 [7 ?* n9 Apricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, ; K. @. z% C9 W7 z# R- Q
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary
% h2 R" {- ]* w; D) N3 r2 s+ sto ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and / v* L4 t5 M+ C; K
functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.+ {! U: {$ W& T, z
· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures
. [) e! s1 }5 Nas may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-
% g+ `3 G) @6 h" f8 ueffective operation of the venues.
: N c A8 T4 v" I* z· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to . w* f1 ^$ J# j5 Y
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
. R' Y$ K4 o# p# R7 w· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and ' p4 F& P: A; L
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.
7 h: [0 d( D0 c· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their : S' I$ A' S2 W2 o/ c, Q
particular event in the venues.3 |* d |5 d; w. ]+ ~4 S" i
· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and
+ a: O8 I( G# ysupporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the . w3 \' n2 s$ U h
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.1 h2 W9 C" K# T
· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
& V) k/ @" N0 @9 N4 b# l) a9 ~rental with consultation with the Technical Director.2 ~" F/ P( \$ C4 u/ O5 t
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
& Q {& R8 |6 r# V( MSU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately # W. c8 B! G6 ^1 j9 q4 G
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in
4 t( D z6 [! ?! n8 O) ?follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.8 y; M$ n% q0 L" A# u0 z
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately, ' y. v& }4 V# c0 s1 M8 o3 Q
effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that + K: j/ P: M- {% ~" U% H
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision 1 u! o1 }1 v l9 a6 L1 Z
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of
( y3 x& s; Q @; Q/ s$ jProgramming and Venues.
9 l1 Q; u2 p3 h+ b0 t7 q· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of
7 s- h2 k5 m5 Y8 Q/ `significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of
' j, T) r' W! W( f5 D) B8 rmarketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as
) }2 q: t& A7 Y: Omay provide such challenges and/or problems.

operation of the venues or the Students´ Union as a whole.

1) Minimum two years related post secondary education, or
