Alberta Finance, Edmonton - is seeking a highly motivated economist to join the Economics and Public
+ E7 q& a1 R1 p2 J; S1 c: _Finance group. This group is responsible for providing the government’s economic forecast, which underpins
the revenue forecast for the government’s fiscal plan.

8 [: _% ]* L3 S9 j  [Your main responsibilities will be to monitor current economic developments, analyze trends and assist in
) W2 O7 P% g1 d2 mpreparing the economic forecast for the Alberta government. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you
' z9 v% H/ T- T$ P% Ymonitor developments within Alberta and the global economy and assess the implications for Alberta’s
economic performance and major revenues. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable
  h1 t6 l7 d" E0 x4 hyou to present the results of your technical analysis to a non-specialist audience.

You will work in a team environment and be comfortable in defending your analysis and forecasts to others in
: [* {$ q2 L5 W8 R; ~, {' bthe group. The ability to manage numerous projects will prove valuable as you will have to meet multiple
' h, Q0 J' f. a3 s  Ldeadlines. The ability to develop or enhance forecasting models would be a definite asset.
! R% Q; o; `7 @; p3 d

1 G/ E8 d7 H/ B6 L: eQualifications: Master’s Degree in Economics is preferred. Equivalencies (such as a Bachelor’s Degree and
significant relevant work experience) will be considered. This position requires a strong grasp of economic
' y4 z, g/ W$ H4 P3 V% u9 Y7 Dtheory and quantitative methods, familiarity with economic research techniques and knowledge of econometric
5 {- P8 D! U  G) x8 asoftware (e.g. ESTools, Eviews, Shazam), and excellent communication skills.
