Alberta Finance, Edmonton - is seeking a highly motivated economist to join the Economics and Public
# n) s# x4 S' U" B+ {Finance group. This group is responsible for providing the government’s economic forecast, which underpins
the revenue forecast for the government’s fiscal plan.
. X% [! ?* c* Q; I- ?/ U6 u
Your main responsibilities will be to monitor current economic developments, analyze trends and assist in
& Q( T7 u0 o. ~" K& |preparing the economic forecast for the Alberta government. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you
) a# y$ K0 m* n8 U2 B; xmonitor developments within Alberta and the global economy and assess the implications for Alberta’s
economic performance and major revenues. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable
4 Y( n0 d2 r3 X6 h3 O. F3 Ayou to present the results of your technical analysis to a non-specialist audience.

You will work in a team environment and be comfortable in defending your analysis and forecasts to others in
* N" V* E  z5 @3 p) bthe group. The ability to manage numerous projects will prove valuable as you will have to meet multiple
9 `6 z$ o( c; r1 ~, z+ Z% k6 Jdeadlines. The ability to develop or enhance forecasting models would be a definite asset.

  l" W7 X8 v  GQualifications: Master’s Degree in Economics is preferred. Equivalencies (such as a Bachelor’s Degree and
significant relevant work experience) will be considered. This position requires a strong grasp of economic
theory and quantitative methods, familiarity with economic research techniques and knowledge of econometric
; d2 [/ Z8 F' B0 msoftware (e.g. ESTools, Eviews, Shazam), and excellent communication skills.
