Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.- i; i& U3 W0 Z# X: N) F

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1 U0 r! V! U: R% ?/ w• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
% I1 z# Z# e& A2 J- g• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability " t# X! b, @4 z. C& u4 d$ ?

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).2 D- c0 P/ e- ?; ]" R. B9 J- E) `
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.' g1 _/ C: X! N( D7 k6 B: d0 I0 b, h
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
