% ]3 i! Y: y" N- S2 {5 UEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.) b: i" m8 j# u+ n- [. I
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
: }4 m! p" w4 W7 q• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
% o3 v' ]' M8 Z• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather
" b* r; K9 F/ \8 l$ Hand traffic conditions.

3 l$ C# a. U* @8 gJOB REQUIREMENTS:
/ w! x- L' w* c) U• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).8 A9 w2 T( ?9 x( b( f+ j) Z% p
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.7 L5 @- p1 g! `; I' |; ?
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.! n& s6 u* Y* F3 W3 G' ?; G6 A" ]
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) + v: S. A1 W7 r, K
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 5 P& ` t& E5 Z' h1 u9 P* n& t4 `
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
: B0 ?+ J- i4 B. D6 s8 q% i$ Ovideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

HOURS OF WORK:$ C3 Y8 |, O) P2 t
Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week ( O) |' @. r2 ?" G% U5 K
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly% L0 B$ b' R- x, w) \
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 : f5 ~1 y4 ^/ x( }$ {4 O0 L Z
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
