Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis. u! w4 m7 [8 \5 b8 [6 @) q

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes., G+ m: i% G; d& Y' H6 R0 g: a3 z' |6 `
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.! J+ _( q0 v% _' f
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.; I9 q( ~1 L$ ]: @
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ' S/ L) T! A* i+ K

• Adhere to schedules.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.1 b9 H9 @( n- s: f, l+ F7 T
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.)./ Q6 H0 U: {: T# n9 _4 W
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
; z9 C( A" @4 c; o: _' ~" ~• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.- l! p- W! N/ ^% w7 I' b7 ]
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ( w- ^" A: }/ d0 x- p
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. ( i8 P7 e4 h5 Q* m! r$ Z' @, W2 `
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill . k1 x6 d8 ?- e3 v8 }9 \
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

; ` P' R5 L" h; h$ bVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week S; d0 t$ F a0 e! e) c' g3 v
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
: k# l; A8 q# W3 ^( \Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly- Z$ `6 r5 M; |" _

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 2 y3 A4 L c( ^* O$ {4 |8 D/ K
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly G1 o' l. |8 d9 o
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
