Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.! `1 w8 J; z; r' ]/ [, m& w: X8 v: y( m
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
/ e- X4 d. j5 W9 S# ?- Q4 B8 f# H• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. 9 w& [8 ^ K( D/ f! x! [8 `

3 [: H$ ?8 q0 r1 P3 q% a( {• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
% P5 ~6 M$ Q5 {) c• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
: t1 O5 b$ \" I, P• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.+ V0 O/ ~6 z- o7 b1 `, v
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 6 @0 {1 n$ m, B( \( y- N+ _
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

$ J5 F1 Y4 j$ c8 B$ e; Jvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
