Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

6 @+ W& O6 j( b• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.7 t4 C# j: }) I' t5 L) r: r; F
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.& M8 @0 l) F. n6 f/ y, y
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
# ^$ U5 h" k4 G5 P9 ?2 `( q) c• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
, F- D. r8 o9 Z0 e2 `• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

( v! o% n/ r0 Uto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.! ]0 j/ ]9 }) U8 K$ {
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
) v$ U- U w+ q• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 9 C3 @* ~3 q4 Z- p$ i& S
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 6 {* j% s, i! I4 ~1 ^
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill . v3 K( S3 }/ R+ y" E
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

4 r8 S3 C5 g: DVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
