$ r7 Y) F& u2 YI'd like to invite people to join our new Community Dialogue project.
- j2 w, p* [( zIn phase 1 we have a couple of extra spots available for Community! ~' c) G$ a" P6 C: G7 B+ u' K( }7 G
Engagement Training.

3 N! S9 x4 P* i: uWe can accept a few people to join us this Friday (3~6 p.m.)and Saturday,# V8 ~/ m' e( A; `2 ]3 B- y& V
(9~3 p.m. ) to improve skills in building multicultural neighbourhood! \$ K) R3 Q, p3 K
groups. We're especially focused on developing groups that can work! f, z) S$ s5 T7 b0 b) Q# V' k
together across cultures to create community projects and Action for Healthy
& {- Q$ o7 h' o8 F& g+ j5 K+ ACommunities can often support these projects with funding of up to $1,000.! u h$ j J( o- i

Pacific, "Bougainville Sky" is the story of how music helped overcome years+ s5 G k* f S
of fear and distrust to rebuild peace in a war torn society. When bitter0 x* D7 B9 @8 x" ^
conflict on Bougainville Island ended in 1997, the combatants invited the
2 e3 _* H' [6 d( j1 g: g6 E1 C. O, f+ finternational community to send in a Peacekeeping force on one condition:& S0 }# h& R; z1 V* g0 I1 p+ H
they come unarmed. Amongst the Peacekeepers was young Australian songwriter
7 E6 t! Y) K3 R4 zIain Campbell Smith, whose music and radio program became a legend on the
4 y \7 i- o9 X, r4 o; r, v f. ?island and contributed to the success of the world¹s first unarmed) `: d; b% E9 z$ V$ a, ^$ _* U5 u% g
international peacekeeping operation.

This beautifully shot film allows the Bougainvillean people to tell their% A2 X5 }# w: g8 H9 W
own story and captures the struggles, the strength and the humor of a people
& P. {; j: ^7 Y1 s+ w# nwho brought themselves back from the chaos of war. At a time when our TV. d# G/ p2 r$ D# A: z
screens are filled with images from the interventions in Iraq and, Y5 _% t: K1 w8 f3 \
Afghanistan, the success story of the Bougainville peace process seems; p- d8 L- W5 t* Q2 y/ z
improbable: an unarmed international intervention fostering local customs
' _/ k+ c0 C. J6 H5 Dand music to strengthen an indigenous-run peace process < and it worked!

According to Smith "the fact that we were unarmed was critical to the

Also, because we were unarmed we couldn't scare anyone into doing anything,% I; v t3 M |- ^$ \
