反对C24的都是有双重国籍的人,如台港,印度,欧美来的加拿大人。 对大陆来的只有一个国籍的人如果也反对的话, 那么只能说他喜欢自虐。

+ p/ p; [: o! G' h8 jAs a result, immigration and controversial laws around citizenship are coming up a bit more often on the doors, say candidates.
' y [ o6 a- i# W2 EConservative candidate Tim Uppal said his party has an excellent record on welcoming newcomers.

3 H$ y6 j' L7 f N6 h“Under this government, we have had the highest levels of sustained immigration in Canadian history,” he said.1 C; p$ U0 l4 Y! A& k( o
* H' J$ q7 }+ U% E- S! a4 DUppal also defends bill C-24, legislation that allows the government to strip citizenship from dual citizens convicted of terrorism or treason. He said when someone has been convicted and served their time of a charge as serious as terrorism it’s common sense to deport them.8 R( F' g1 O5 ]7 f& L/ s5 s
“If we can have their citizenship stripped, because they’re a dual citizen, than I would rather not have them in this country,” he said.

: b. N) n( l- M, e/ U NLiberal candidate Amarjeet Sohi said the Conservative bill is discriminatory, treating Canadians with dual citizenship as unequal.
1 W' ]& c4 P( D* B. L7 z+ i“It will not make us safe,” he said. “Every Canadian should be treated the same, you can’t have different punishments for the same crime.”
5 ^5 g- t& O4 c7 C: vSohi said he would prefer convicted terrorist stay within the reach of Canadian law.

NDP candidate Jasvir Deol said the bill has many immigrant communities worried.
* ^$ C* G6 x' Y7 p9 P5 D6 P“People are really, really under fear and they want to see these changes,” he said.
: c+ S+ w. \$ I5 K8 ?1 ~He said his party is unequivocal about the bill.
& t! a' d1 j8 w5 M6 N“The NDP has a very firm stand. We opposed the changes and we voted against C-24. If we win the election, we will repeal C-24.” |
