Anything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.
Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve) ; J/ `# Q1 U; h1 r- K3 N! { / c( H+ Y: p; T1 {' Y/ ?Close the main water inlet valve;% N, R& F6 g) s8 k# \) u' ]0 k I
open all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line;9 S7 E S5 H! [7 f9 r
Close the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one; ) K! I9 x1 b6 p3 b- OShut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off; + K1 x0 H0 C) a3 s0 T/ W: hOpen the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out;, i2 L# r9 r# R5 m2 Q$ h

The drain hose is supposed to have water go thorough the humidifier filter inside the housing and then goes to drain when furnace is on. $ I: F [0 r7 x$ N+ \ " A) X. _ D' Y. i$ z+ vIf there is no crack at the housing connector, just re-do the connection when the furnace is off.
