. k8 ?" p* i) T7 [The Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit (AFETC) is a program funded by the Alberta government to help working families provide for their children. The AFETC supports families financially and encourages self-reliance and stability. Over the 2011-12 benefit year, the Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit provided about $114 million in tax relief to about 137,000 Alberta families.

The program has two objectives:$ ?6 B) }) B9 s( q4 @3 U8 X, H
◾to support children in low and middle income families, and
) T* u# N1 r& K L4 L( D◾to provide incentive for the parents of these children to continue to work.

Who is Eligible?
( @5 Q7 q4 F7 b& K( O( _* E0 r# a/ q( d8 V* p/ F
If you meet the following criteria, you qualify for the AFETC:
) x9 O6 X. O6 B( H! p2 V t◾Resident of Alberta for at least one month,
' K- d' F& I# Z- w2 A8 ]◾Parent of one or more children under 18,
: O: `% y, A$ v1 L- F: _◾More than $2,760 annual family working income, and
4 E0 Z4 z1 D9 }% r8 B◾A family net income of less than $53,725 for families with one child, $70,275 for families with two children, $80,200 for families with three children, and $83,500 for families with four or more children.

4 l9 Q3 ~+ f8 u. \6 dYou could receive up to a maximum of $1,919 for your family for the twelve month period beginning July 2013. The maximum amounts (as of July 1, 2013) are as follows:1 g& z' o- L. e/ c. K

◾second child - $662;
