Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
* b) G" p: }% E* {! P; Q4 enot do any of the following:3 }' E! }) |/ ?* J
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
5 z: D/ G7 J7 Y' Q" `vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;) f: h% u" g) F6 ] v1 ]' o+ p+ C
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
6 Y4 d1 o2 [ jvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
: t8 N" p4 Z* y' J* Q& ?% m(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,1 w) R) Y# N: K$ }5 ]5 g2 n
permit another person
: m+ S, u3 Y0 ^# W7 _(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or* \9 K4 J1 d1 ]$ s4 N% u
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,% c4 k2 J. m3 G; x3 O+ W3 e
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

responsibility card or a copy of it
0 L1 [* H( ?8 E1 p" g. w* i1 zto a person not entitled to have that financial

2 E" x& M7 h# j. VIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway; W# V5 i# k# ^
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
5 N) {8 J6 _2 c( {' \3 ?# vthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
5 `4 Z% j' N: F(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is" x* u8 V5 f4 V9 \
not an insured motor vehicle.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a3 n3 H$ ?; a7 {1 {7 B1 j

Insurance Act
3 x3 U7 c5 Z9 X) z; K5 ^by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy* R8 R/ U4 r0 {8 a. X
outside Alberta.

6 k. V- f& [( I3 GA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection) b$ A' Z, J/ w% ?1 `
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,4 x) H J) `/ v k+ y, ^
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
, r7 |# t r( Q6 H; yand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
o, r4 I) d; N1 _/ q1 uimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
