Oil Sands Discovery Centre - Fort McMurray
( V$ `1 r5 ]2 ?1 D" V9 CTime to spring out of winter at the Oil Sands Discovery Centre with Odd-Lot Puppetry shows, cool experiments, crafts, snowshoeing and more in a day packed with family fun. Puppet shows are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Space is limited at the shows, so visitors should plan to arrive early.

To tie in with four intriguing feature exhibitions entitled Arctic 4: Exploring Tales and Traditions from Canada’s North, one movie will be presented and two speakers will offer family-friendly talks in the Museum Theatre - all on Monday, February 18. 6 Q% o, w6 P0 R* w1 ^+ x

The museum will show the movie Ice Age at 10 a.m. Eric Damkjar explores Arctic Allure at noon, while Brian Keating shares Polar Possibilities: Adventures in Paradise at 2 p.m. In addition to free admission on February 18, the Royal Alberta Museum will offer half price admission between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, February 16 -17.

9 y* L/ G3 ^, S8 QGovernment House is celebrating its 100th anniversary with free public tours and two special centennial exhibits. Among many fascinating pieces are original magazine photos of the house from its heyday as a vice regal residence, original clothing items of the “Chatelaines” (or wives of resident Lieutenant Governors), and a coded telegram from Lieutenant Governor Bowen to Ottawa at a time of constitutional crisis.

Rutherford House - Edmonton
- U' J8 ^; k) q3 [Visitors will discover Edwardian-era family life at the home of Alberta’s first premier and founder of the University of Alberta, Alexander Rutherford. In 1911, when the Rutherford family moved into their new, stately brick home, it was among Edmonton’s most modern residences. Visitors can step into the historic atmosphere by touring the fully furnished house, making a craft, playing old-fashioned games and sampling cookies baked in the wood-burning stove. " R% v) q9 i6 F

Reynolds-Alberta Museum - Wetaskiwin

V5 cFamily Day visitors to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum will have a final chance to enjoy the museum’s current feature exhibit, Dinosaurs of the Field: Tractors that Built Alberta (closing February 28). The exhibit showcases giant gasoline powered tractors that ruled Alberta from 1906 to 1921, and explores the reasons for their ultimate “extinction”. Visitors can also find the perfect gift for an automotive, aviation or machine enthusiast at the museum gift shop and enjoy Chef Brady’s tasty offerings at Cruisers Café.

Special Family Day programming will be available at the Royal Tyrrell Museum all weekend long. Storytime on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 12:15 p.m., is free and perfect for the little ones. Located in the Devonian Reef gallery, science educators will bring a fascinating story of prehistoric creatures to life. # v, |' x2 G8 d, M3 e! u! [* ^6 G0 C
w3 P! o" c2 h3 Q& Y2 }! }( DVisitors can also make a piece of pre-history to take home. Fossil Casting runs at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day of the weekend, with an additional class at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18. Please note that there is a material cost of $8 per person for Fossil Casting.
