4 I3 z; T8 O" }* o9 ]( h/ b
6 H) _# W0 G$ W$ L$ @7 I
        1. I couldn't care less.
8 r( B. c% O9 F/ Q
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
. @! _% m! V" d, \+ h0 D+ m; v9 \- N/ F' w& A/ G) n. j& T7 C1 `
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
; s6 ?; i+ B% I" t, h# b" Y; H" D4 F+ k
5 e! Y0 f; {7 e, O2 X  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 1 k8 _1 P2 K$ y4 y: G
# D: N/ F' p" n9 K
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
% y4 M5 b3 W, i# `3 N8 _6 a7 J0 b2 k9 d, Q: M
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
4 o' I3 h2 J: a* r8 }' F! z, X  _# `! ^$ L" @
% o6 h" _4 {! s5 _; O. L3 X- m! X7 U7 w- A" a* ~9 G6 O! q
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) 0 O8 z- I- A7 r  n9 j' S! l/ V, C

Yes, you do(care). ' E. r6 x4 ]9 [
# Y4 r  |; R7 X! G
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
, v) P$ J9 I( r( w0 `4 o! b" S1 u; h
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
  x. Y$ C8 N, q. G
" u4 R( ]: K& x1 ^$ g! |& O  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) : b$ W% i) X; d& T0 _0 D  N' E) N

" @' g6 b# G- r* [# \  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 2 Q( }; m5 M$ M6 }  i2 i6 K" {. E

! W6 Q+ q* Z7 }
" c# _! k5 n$ N  I couldn't be more wrong.
, }; o+ B* {$ K5 C5 j; g4 i4 A* `, u
. }* N3 i: l" Y* s/ z/ Z- z! z+ K% ?* i' `( {9 ?5 A7 X
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) ) B/ L9 B6 S  t; m) q) W$ U

; ?- l9 Z+ k4 h. E& p8 N; j/ a  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) * J! H; M/ g; j* K6 o7 }. M1 p

8 k, p0 I, m7 C* Y/ N( h2 c4 v- Y  2. No bones about it. - M4 _% a5 {- @0 D8 ^% p$ T
$ G$ y9 ]9 b  V. L: ]# u9 g9 T
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
2 f% D4 L+ n: g3 [7 J" x9 Z, ^* @6 g5 Z/ g
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) $ D; I& J& N2 y$ T4 f; O

3 z/ D5 f1 |. l  g5 h' ]& r  c  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
+ c; h  q! K2 \% r# y/ H2 }. D
0 X0 p9 m7 f; a* l  H) g9 d  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) , }' @, }# ?  y

/ ^( g9 w+ o. L8 o$ S  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
& i5 D2 M4 z) o* V% F
% j6 Y( `6 B  Y7 k  3. take it on me!
' N' \9 `+ ~. ^7 A% Y; {/ i8 M
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: & `& F1 X9 B+ ?9 Y  |# Z

9 b4 e3 \( X1 Y# }  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) 5 ]& N) r6 z& r  D
, _. I0 s  P' }7 F# f" d8 d
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
2 |# r: H- B) q$ t. q) ?. \7 `( y: i$ `4 H( M& b: p, n
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
4 p* |: X' w/ t' X
- f' l5 C" t9 Y8 C9 U/ T0 a  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。 4 H) B; Z1 D2 h. Q! n. h
3 ?, T+ o6 V' }& B
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
5 H! t4 O7 u8 E) c( M0 o& Q) Y! Q% t
  4. I am from Missouri.
& i. f* q1 G9 C% @! Z/ x. O
$ `7 ?5 \3 b/ |& s' K  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 # U7 m! ?& [' O

) f: q% x' a/ ^' O4 j
! ~3 [. `. [1 r  }0 B7 N! v, _5 M0 e3 Y. t. N4 m
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
! I, @$ U) q# ^9 K( f
* L, ~! K, h6 f4 i8 q% ~  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。) , _/ y2 e" l5 d4 {0 u9 I4 |5 W
$ ~4 E) T0 q4 }0 m$ {/ T
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. 1 I9 W& Q+ o3 e+ V4 |+ l8 y
) J5 i/ E: }( k" V) V2 x# a
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
