Responsibilities and Tasks

- O6 f5 |" e8 a
-        Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment  
. S" J8 i0 ]* @, B-        Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
-        Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
-        Select type and size of pipe required
! I: q5 |% R/ l4 l" i' T-        Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
, n: n. q2 _# R-        Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
-        Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
-        Test system for leaks using testing equipment
-        Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
-        Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

-        Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

Required Qualifications
; i( a% g$ {- W# N- T7 }# R! X
-        Completion of secondary school
-        Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
-        Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
-        Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
-        Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
-        Safety tickets are considered an asset
-        Valid drivers’ license is an asset

-        Completion of secondary school
