Responsibilities and Tasks
! X( X( I. c4 F/ d3 ?3 d3 h; J8 N; B: l
5 B: |0 a- q5 S! ~1 L# ?- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment # H! B" @$ s, ~2 U: o. H3 }
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
Y n- |! [$ j- g) @- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines( s, P$ _" J1 g. ~1 R+ I4 V9 r
- Select type and size of pipe required2 a# c9 ~6 n+ ~7 V+ I
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools( i: _3 w+ _" x8 o% G
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system- M6 w4 G# w0 N( Y( m( e
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
0 ~, `" w: U$ ^' r" ]3 T- Test system for leaks using testing equipment( t, |+ R! L' U, \& z4 `/ R5 o
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system# G# i' y t* d* a- D6 Z; d1 G; a
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
$ u, @* n' O. S8 G+ P4 r/ L- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program
) g9 e; v+ q# U/ l% Z* t- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

Required Qualifications9 J2 v- v' \: @! k
2 Y7 |0 V8 U; D# ^- u- |% Q- Completion of secondary school% e; o/ J/ V% y6 @. f
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation ( S' [0 d0 G! b- G. O) t
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
