Job Title: Program Manager Abbottsfield Youth Project

Job Purpose:: x7 L9 F1 y+ p8 b& y8 Z
To support the Executive Director with fundraising, special events and will be instrumental in the development of our Social Enterprise. This position will also be working directly with children 6-12 years old to teach life skills such as self esteem, communication skills, peer relations using recreation and physical activities to promote growth. Small group facilitation, one-to-ones, family support, advocacy and referrals are used to achieve program outcomes. ' h- X& Z) A+ g( i2 S

This is a full time, one year term position working 37.5 hours per week with 10-15 hours per week dedicated to the children’s programming. (Continuation of this position will depend on available funding)+ X, ~/ k: T# D2 H
! y9 F7 X3 d- N, _Administrative Duties and Responsibilities include:
- d' D+ E) i8 ]. ]* n, x• Working together with the Executive Director to solidify new funding opportunities and write funding reports as needed;
' U7 j0 B! b; W0 ^ ]% n1 A• Supporting in the overall development of programs and activities that benefit our community and our children;! |# \& O7 Z) D+ {
• Maintaining and evaluating program outcomes;
' g$ Z- L" P% l( x• Spearheading the further develop our social enterprise; 1 n7 J- R5 k( B* [% K9 T @
• Risk Management and succession planning;3 a' c8 t' d4 x

Program Duties and Responsibilities include:
( [3 j& L0 ]2 D5 g7 p- e• Maintaining comprehensive and objective contact notes related to child or conversations with others about child;. E3 Q$ t+ v& Y5 q+ i
• Maintaining confidentiality related to all participant information;
+ p2 O' O N6 a3 g3 P+ [• Liaising and/or advocate with school personnel, parent/guardian, and child, as required;
% ]% a! s3 ?( e• Creatively planning, organizing, and evaluating small group and one-to-one activities
( T& J' ~- e' {( e h9 h- d• Participating in establishing achievable program outcomes and employ group strategies and activities to achieve the same;
7 ?& u+ r' {0 q+ y• Meeting with participants on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve success with their goals;
, ]6 O: ~, U3 j y% ~" ?/ J- D7 F9 Y• Building and maintaining positive relationships with children in groups;
' m: q- Z* }7 E I4 b7 `# w! T• Participating in the planning and implementation of family activities for participants & families;1 J2 h: L+ g8 u: w

4 Z; ?! ?- h0 b: N" @• Degree in communications, human services or related field;
% f$ @" X$ F- H: l$ J/ b2 W• Extensive knowledge of the not for profit or voluntary sector;
% x: ]( T. z$ C: L8 B8 O2 S• Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations;
9 _. F6 I6 c% R5 P/ w• Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in writing funding proposals and reports a must;7 y1 D0 K2 b. ~& v' e
• The abilities to multi-task, creatively problem solve, communicate effectively, foster teamwork, and build relationships are critical.
. o# {% `2 \! l- J; l- C• Extensive experience in group facilitation and working with children;
5 @* G* n5 u5 b5 k& p• Current certificates in Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Suicide Intervention, Standard First Aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are preferred;8 T$ p" j4 i# ]: _5 n* P2 `
• Clear CYIM, Security Clearance, and Driver’s Abstract;
: E3 v y5 }& H& K. ]6 w! B• Current valid drivers license;
: f3 @! z4 F' j, g8 G) |8 z• Knowledge of and comfort with the implementation of behavioural intervention strategies;, L3 |* F3 ~: f2 T
• Conflict resolution skills;

• Committed and passionate about children;
