Teen extricated from car after head-on collision near Chestermere

CALGARY — A teen girl was taken to Foothills Hospital in potentially life-threatening condition Monday morning after a head-on collision that involved a "complicated extrication" near Chestermere.

6 D; n; h' ]8 A. p! wAt around 8:30 a.m., RCMP, Chestermere fire crews and Calgary EMS personnel were called to Highway 791 just east of Calgary after a pick-up truck and smaller car crashed head-on, said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux.

5 X5 E# g) M% x+ z5 r% `, @) r1 YThe female driver in her mid-teens, who was the lone occupant of the small car, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by fire crews.

" y( n& A% M! aSTARS Air Ambulance was called to take the girl to the Foothills Hospital.

The male driver and lone occupant of the truck was not injured and did not need to be taken to hospital.
