Truck driver killed, three injured in crash near Mayerthorpe

; Y* }* m% R7 m. v) E' X( i) t! ^# jEDMONTON - The driver of a semi-trailer unit is dead and three others are in hospital after a collision 15 kilometres north of Mayerthorpe Sunday morning.

3 ~) q( V9 \, d& y- u6 FA southbound semi-trailer truck was turning left off Highway 43 at Township Road 584 at about 9:20 a.m. when it was struck by a northbound semi, Mayerthorpe RCMP said in a news release.

7 o5 T9 _% Y0 k4 G* z" [' p8 M. H. A' `The collision caused extensive damage and the wreckage blocked both lanes of the highway.

; `3 `8 @; F: w9 p9 U0 p, B; f. EA pickup truck travelling north could not stop in time and hit the back of one of the semis.

# \& Q: C3 E7 h! Z7 C4 w8 zThe two occupants of the pickup were airlifted to Edmonton by air ambulance, one with non-life threatening injuries and the other in serious but stable condition. The driver of one semi was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other semi driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

: s5 _. j  {6 p* d! v5 J/ vRCMP do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision, though weather conditions may have been a factor.

7 C7 ?, R+ u& f+ A% c% lThe crash closed the northbound lanes of Highway 43 for several hours. The highway was expected to be fully open again late Sunday.

小眼带鱼

去年夏天在从Mayerthorp去Whitecourt的路上看到一辆minivan直接被撞成两段。我看到的时候离事故发生应该不到10分钟，好多车都在努力救minivan的司机。
