Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

2 c4 X4 J9 ^% b. Y2 a, |% jnow inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3
F$ h1 A# `4 z( d0 Zmegapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
* _$ q0 U% Q$ x! c! O: \! ^- h9 @7 zwithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color4 N$ D6 _4 s4 o
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance% K3 _1 H, {4 w9 o4 \
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
; b9 j: d4 u- P5 Fallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
4 ?& ^: I. P& }without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
% _- q, J1 A v3 I, E x* H" X8 uwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum3 a- c$ W$ s4 [3 a6 @# d$ Q4 c2 N
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was" o/ G6 X' n* `1 D
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and" d; `- g7 x; ?8 R, E, D1 y; U5 U
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
* r1 C. y! Q/ e+ M- {$ rbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,; s) d, \7 e& f4 `. T0 D0 L
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
: ?5 Z3 q- m& b6 H& R2 Orange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
5 ~" ~7 n& {# ?/ |* Y, W' O& Ithe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
: x" J( v6 Z3 K- C8 W+ [# s* @D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as; E, f) A0 d' H8 s `8 T+ i
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.' @2 d. R: R$ ~
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor% F U! }8 c# _, }
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
% n4 b0 `- i/ l/ Heasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
+ [8 E, a, T) f& @, ealso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
$ [ }8 h1 W- Tcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features4 R) ^2 c& Z3 a" N
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality' h$ Q0 ?1 f0 }. N( J# ?+ K
prints and video.( f9 ~- ~1 r/ I1 v$ D' o
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is, B& f/ {9 F _ Q" P1 Q
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
^0 R# R# u& {' Aare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using) ]6 k1 M+ |/ \8 [+ v+ l- g% n& p; T2 @- s
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first: u/ m% M& A$ q/ h, ]
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws* ?. q. C! d @ P9 h
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of; ~% y; Y: X1 O- B. f
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I6 d" Y; E- z) u l+ T$ \1 ^9 y0 Z
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as0 Y4 t) i+ I. _9 z8 X
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
7 \7 i; d0 ]0 _- t) Y1 ~photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add3 H- ^0 g: |, U {+ \- J% f
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the& T: `- X( _0 G4 @7 Q4 f+ K7 T
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express6 S$ l: F. n% u' _$ c" h/ O
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.6 `9 C6 f9 s- R! S1 | ^! H
As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
~# H) g7 }' V) Y; h8 l- hcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal1 ^9 Z! K8 Z2 b% Y% ?: ]" \
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior
# ~, Q: ?, Z' t. b) q/ u' pquality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for
# u3 p% t9 Q! @8 sarchitectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
8 n; M1 G3 q1 e8 jperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly& D3 i7 w$ X1 {# E
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
7 C) p9 f( i, K( w- a% d1 E# b9 hto work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional5 q4 ?3 }0 _- C6 o
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
