• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed/ n3 e7 _9 B+ x J0 B; l% p* s% `5 _5 W
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
$ ~" `# O- n* M6 P& X( h: N$ J( v• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers+ }2 I [( z* e2 g; U G; q
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
: u) S9 S; u" p& B7 C1 j: c0 Y# P• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
8 O0 Q7 m1 T- d• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
/ B" q+ J$ C! ~" H1 i• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools7 }, k- {9 h) h% _5 t) t
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
- K% G- o4 a) { K2 M9 [• Mix paint, blend and match colors z3 y# D- Z* H6 T" M
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns4 m( g+ e: n, t6 f4 o/ L: x
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
3 o$ i0 ]* w; s _/ e% V• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation5 f' g# K! Z% P o, l' Z
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling( T) B+ z3 ], B: ?9 D
Education and Experience Requirements:1 W' j* c# o/ y2 z- m" d* V
• Completion of secondary school is required
, H' {: i5 h3 O• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program {$ Q+ l+ D% L' r2 i
or8 f' A7 D7 ^: \9 c& B `; m
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
! N* l4 d1 d5 X( d- D, H# V• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory % u& r% C3 u+ g% W
