In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

* T" `5 b$ _8 \SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. / P3 M- U& b* [1 N* o9 `/ `; {
SEDI is staffed to:
) i1 h& B( [* s- Y# V0 ?• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
- X1 y% O: c/ r, }) S- {• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
% `6 E- v1 \$ E+ k' L5 r% K• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
9 K: I U: P @' _• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs {5 z8 u, V) s& p
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
5 ^8 e$ T. j4 a; m- D5 n9 S2 Q• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses
- k& }- b3 P0 k+ t• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada
* q! ~1 p% M/ T% Q, X& E vPrimary Responsibilities and Activities: 7 u7 n7 p5 [5 f) H" W
• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada - w$ ~3 b+ i, f: t
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) 3 m0 @0 |9 C1 H; n3 P
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required 6 V4 j/ ]* o# f
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities . |- I0 `/ R5 W h% N9 h$ \: M
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team . T, ]! g( }8 C5 w8 v* O
• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required / b$ ]! p- I, ~0 Q/ [
Other Activities:6 ?8 C0 t' k7 M5 ?4 f8 n" B
• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies m" N. d4 K# c. q
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
) {0 [/ _' M. ^2 f ^• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting / v9 o& C5 M4 C2 h. N7 O
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
3 R( `6 U; l9 Y4 _: X+ i7 I M• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning
! G; @8 V. W; a& `0 j$ L$ {Primary Qualifications:
& H3 R5 K4 ]/ @9 {• Demonstrated group facilitation experience
2 V' S6 J7 p) W( @9 `• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media : `+ p0 |; K% b. \
• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training
$ X- s" e T0 F- k2 M( c5 Z0 h• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
9 y$ |/ A. [1 G! i5 w• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams

• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
3 x- v) N" C" T6 ?• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them " X( u* ?- w" a8 m- Z
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc
+ I) S0 F8 U/ E& R' c• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education
; X) X3 W1 x# h2 o$ ^' F• Content / curriculum development experience
$ r" p+ Y# q. \4 _• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners

• Policy research skill set is an asset
