Position: Outreach Worker

5 }2 S3 X( a+ nJob Description
* n* M9 x) c2 D7 r, X- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
; b) X2 f5 |* A1 @- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
# U9 q' ]# Z6 f9 T0 X* f' S-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
* ~% M( f: ]1 z- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
9 ~/ U4 T; T  f; b- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
/ c4 q! a2 v/ u% c; l2 C+ {( w- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
: A; z- u' F. D, R  c/ U+ X) g2 X- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- r; A. e8 B) t2 c+ ]. t' o- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
4 Y; Q, o# D, ]- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
5 m8 K3 ~+ F6 a- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
1 B% Y( o) J, n; u( C3 V% n- other duties as assigned

* o5 y5 Q' l7 {1 B9 T; }2 L1 eQualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
6 L, F" B; b. [. L* ?. v/ [- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
4 T7 B; x8 I7 ]4 _; f- good interpersonal and people skills
( b1 A( ]. j6 N$ L! z; T$ C- good organizational and coordination skills
1 }3 \- `2 p  i: o' v7 v- valid driver’s license

Other
- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
