Position: Outreach Worker

6 B0 A% s6 A9 JJob Description
4 y8 U5 ]& n3 b& ~- h- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
1 O8 k3 F/ Y1 _# k" ~- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
. |/ R# g* p2 e: D! I-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
# `' S+ g1 J0 Y6 U# [$ d, @) o- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
* H, W  W3 x+ K; g; r$ ?; v- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
% R9 h) b' m: ?- v9 s2 u9 L- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
! u, h* e- g* \  l- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
6 x0 y# J. O0 v/ U0 p- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
  O" t+ V% c% A# U9 S- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
: n/ m' I+ @9 E, j5 u7 q- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
' q" T8 N! I/ T0 c+ k- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

* C. m3 m' c0 s- f; X- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
