0 l8 P9 p& P3 t0 ~The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the# J6 Y5 I: K2 N' {. i, v
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the
( }. E9 e0 p! ?% d0 Moperations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has0 `( i" d! b9 r! T" ]0 J3 P
the important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,& p+ a; E- l8 x, w% ^9 |
operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular R& Q( T8 Z# ?2 ~! D
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is
; ^6 b2 Y# c4 ]8 c9 rconducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
" |8 W: ?$ k& p) p1 Z) U' N6 C8 Gemployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
! v/ v! ~+ h4 r/ D& o# s5 C' wstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:
1 }6 [. @& W. `! m! z' B1 a0 R9 A1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the7 `, o1 G$ z) Q5 k7 F
officers of the Coalition
' ~' k/ f0 n2 r3 E7 B8 R2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
7 @% D( Q6 x0 _* @organizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations t) W) }0 V) I/ t0 z
and public institutions
+ B; f" M; s% a; O" ?, [3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through
$ t! A3 f3 W& U2 o: r w3 H( q& Yfunding opportunities and maintaining initiatives8 J& f5 V0 o6 o5 q- F0 G
4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
# p9 p1 o. z, B+ v2 F2 zorganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with6 F8 a; e8 _* U$ \

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

Administrative responsibilities:! T: V" r4 b* o* I- w4 g
1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its
2 Y& J5 p$ Q; Z* }+ ~ r5 L* @2 Mregular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of3 ?5 `6 B: I) Y$ ]- | U! A6 F0 u/ I
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the" Q6 J1 n" V$ a# Q/ u
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.& Z) `5 a9 C# K: g
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the2 e2 S( [+ V, \, t8 l; |

All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to

" O' t: ]6 T3 l* J8 B& {5 @) Soperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility., Y$ x O% t ?9 O
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and& y9 @4 X6 {; E
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should
' S) l/ ] f' C. n% L; ?" K% ]/ h4 [; F% Pbe noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership
: r; T. t! B4 t8 y+ q5 r/ Lparticipation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
+ f% c' d. u! i1 G- J5 i) o" D1 vfacilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of" y4 V. J; Z: I, P4 c& Y+ v
directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
! j0 b) J5 l. [% U8 ^' Vstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all# ^+ \ J" R( U6 n9 L, i: s
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of7 A+ ^/ H; R( r
directors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of+ e3 L5 u/ e4 V) K- _
