Dear friend/colleague: Immigrant men & their families face many challenges. The intense demands of adjusting to a new society put tremendous stress on their lives. The issues are many, including: affordable housing, fair employment, income security, schooling, parenting, gender roles, recognition of foreign qualifications, cultural & legal awareness in Canada, spirituality, conflict. Looking for a few good men 鈥?Grounded on adult transformative learning & community development principles, this initiative will actively engage both the coordinators/participants in defining the outcomes/benefits. Participants will play a key role in their own advocacy & leadership training and will actively monitor their learning process & action. Diversity & Inclusion: At the core of this effort is the hope that by becoming their own advocates, they will constructively impact on policymakers & engage in active-citizenship. We hope to develop a sense of community, inclusion and solidarity among immigrant men, beyond ethnicity - but as people first!
