This morning, Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced changes to mortgage insurance rules intended to ensure the stability of Canada's housing market.     4 f% ^4 P0 L; e9 e  i" D

! U3 h' p% \5 a8 v% K* g
Amortization period capped at 30 years 2 i  s, Y/ R4 j: s8 s: ~
Reduction of government backing for home equity lines of credit 3 W' W( z) @  Q( R3 F. C
Maximum refinancing reduced to 85% from 90% LTV % S& |6 e% j6 k/ ]: l% Y
There are no changes to down payment requirements as CAAMP recommended.
