Responsibilities
 Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
7 X) Y" \; I' ?0 {+ P% T Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
3 Y$ S! X( x; o& N  j5 e Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
+ o$ Y$ U% L0 n5 X8 s Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
 Social work degree or diploma
1 E7 h6 Y9 K/ Q( T, ~" ?3 \) [& y Current RSW designation preferred   
! F8 z, _6 S/ [& b! i! n5 D Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
& _: Q- B5 K4 q9 J) ^6 ^0 `! b Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
$ u# w6 T- P5 T2 _! L Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
1 L& Y$ v0 V1 Q* F: W7 O1 u/ \, T Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
! v1 v& D# d% b Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
