Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

8 U7 u7 V8 B8 S9 O+ S% Z Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
+ j( E/ T* h9 |3 X/ E Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
' B9 }$ M4 {8 h$ u Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
' G6 `* W* L- ^( k: Y Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
( j' Q  J/ M& a, {( ] Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.


Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
* }" J9 _8 p! d* s Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
) \. w% O6 h) {3 g8 X0 P. p8 P Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
3 Z- A# w" e  E9 g5 R# |# L6 l Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
