FUNCTION:
- X4 \, @. S5 f  P% T) f9 w. sAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
8 T' v8 ?6 Y% F6 t7 M& n6 e• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
$ z+ G# m  k! s& xBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
" [7 ^6 \5 b! F% q% |5 `, G( Y• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
1 J  V& |: `* E- h6 _# c• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
( Q0 w, Z4 [, [3 v! [$ }, F• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
+ ?+ U) [9 _1 A* V8 ?! o! h• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

  Y1 M) F. [/ k. g: g2 @SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
) [  e# q( b$ l7 A) I3 A- R• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
; J. u- M. a. ]9 L! M# i• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
- }3 Y4 j8 D& A# B• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
2 j& [* t5 A! Q# }• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
$ M# }* _4 z, N3 o! x5 A9 H" F• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
