FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
! F* D9 O# C& h9 c! B% G5 y6 Y• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
) ^, {2 I1 @1 w8 s0 Z• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
7 q+ t7 {4 B8 \• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
- {5 W+ v9 ~7 p# _• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
9 ^8 ]) a3 a5 [0 B7 ?• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
5 `6 V6 k, n5 U9 l& I% L• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

; [+ O; d$ h: Z  c1 HSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
$ I' S' U0 T" t" ~• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
$ k8 o5 R' ]7 `' P5 n4 B3 m; P• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
' v+ R5 Z7 w/ N* Q0 j• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
* [4 X2 r* `7 L3 c% w' K) J8 j• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
8 J: A  V, }. g1 w6 G1 W  Q• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
5 B% |9 X1 c/ M5 b• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
