FUNCTION:
! \7 @" {* v/ W0 M7 BAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

& V- c+ u- {4 a3 PDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1 ~9 W; U# G- I6 @1 U- cEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
9 a( w4 J/ i. B5 q9 d  D, l$ {8 _% ^• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
6 X' ^/ T. X/ k' i( `' V• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
% G: I. j4 ~+ L; T, h- o• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
0 A5 c! ~6 a: H' G5 e) w2 V• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
+ g1 q. Y4 O" d9 J• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
7 [, |7 a5 s" h' @# B3 M+ `• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
9 y1 }; A# e" C+ |# E• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
: P* J7 F6 T# f/ C2 z• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
0 }4 ?; j  v" D: R• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
6 s) t( D5 z$ l• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
