FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

" W$ Z9 K; S8 t; z7 X9 c• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
3 A. H" |2 [% ]9 BBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
" s" l9 r/ C* o+ {$ A* q( U• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
) C, _2 W5 A$ r1 E• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
( p( [% A8 d$ j' W! x+ W• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
# b2 \' Z5 V4 Q$ b8 I7 t1 o• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
, K  z3 c- q; s1 x2 f" p• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
" E" V% }: ~6 i# C4 L+ I" Z• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
7 _" E! `) l: \) q/ ~0 T2 t6 W& W1 `• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
3 b! ~3 T% K2 h6 r  V• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
4 l' K# P3 U8 G1 M• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
