As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
6 J1 f% R2 ?. l• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
$ g/ Y+ Y; `& @7 b: K5 QBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
& G& J+ X3 O+ F1 ~+ f- m% t- D) A* h• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
( N3 S1 }/ L) l; x• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

! }9 T6 _6 o! P' I8 dSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
2 q5 j6 @# P. V* C$ [2 ^• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
: w$ R+ \7 Z8 X• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
1 f: o" G6 w  i5 `• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
# }9 @, L6 k: j+ N( _% Z• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
+ Z( ^0 z& c1 k* q- r( [. q• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
7 G% P; I# @% [' V- y& m7 w• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
