Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
! j4 T' G9 E' v) V" e6 `execution of the YWCA Strategy $ @. J& i- L( d+ e4 ?, U% J

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of + ^: F3 \3 \2 ], r1 @5 Y' f9 l
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 4 v- E, e: y. h; ~$ E, j
the Board of Directors;

including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to $ r8 d9 @% q% Q8 E7 V t/ g
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; : W0 L8 O) _( H) h+ D
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and $ H# a, F( i- W. B2 d& W+ F3 i
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; ( y$ r! w( m5 i1 A: A
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion , Q* j% F: {6 e0 E
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
% ?8 Y- B" \& Z7 q• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
2 o, W5 J$ k8 }' zchanging needs of the organization and community;
$ q R! B6 p& P, j) s• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 3 A4 K" Z( `0 m9 f
commitments; 8 l& J$ A0 F& U* ^: E
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
- E$ U u% r, V+ o* e/ _8 u• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
0 c; Q _! c) E7 x2 aselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
; U x6 A d9 [( C• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; H5 q' J4 o7 r6 _0 |" l
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ; p' ~! u/ ^% {; U& n p; l, F; [
effectively and positively represent the association; a" _& T& P2 _# W, D* N* V
. {9 x t2 w8 S- h• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 7 J- F9 k/ I/ v$ L4 a9 a
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
% J, q! F# B) D+ s* v' n% y2 x• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 3 d* Q" l, A4 |6 G
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED " I9 V* }. p# y; }; U6 P
the forthcoming year; ( }0 F" H) a3 R4 R& ^
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical - K2 J+ l9 q- D7 s
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
) O6 ^2 H; _9 qYWCA Canada; and 4 f* a* [) i' A1 q) g# {
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
% U5 l+ D8 V6 T4 QForces. ) o- j% K' S* {% [8 G; X! @

and achievable with realistic timeframes;

4 P% {& t6 A/ Y5 Z$ [• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience 2 G# }" N+ x& F4 v/ ?8 W( D# X, d0 u
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; : j: u6 [; t: T3 Q, S6 L0 z
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 4 ~* S; B' g6 @7 w
abilities;
1 u) `. V8 i+ D• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
$ j8 {% n# s3 ANetworking and Fundraising; . q/ ~7 `, ^: ~* G& }" L8 \. Q$ \9 X
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
/ l4 c2 P: p4 D$ [! M# Zand financial statements; and
