The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ! c( O; l7 r1 j" `4 c! ~! t; a
execution of the YWCA Strategy

1 q [* O. t4 ?* R* z9 ]6 C• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
B; Z) m( F& {0 L, A) _. z; T2 Pthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by . l& O# E' o, T9 `
the Board of Directors; ) [$ L, e! d- m$ a6 c; U" E
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 4 a9 s! \ R2 O) u4 p
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
9 o0 E- K0 @, E0 y; Benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 6 B7 D1 }, ~1 l2 u; [, B) U
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 4 H, ~. }3 E& j
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

$ u1 ]9 A& F2 E; V* V• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 3 [7 w3 }' L+ O% V5 | s2 ~$ W, j
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 6 Q, H! @+ x: E% r& @! z1 }
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 5 }% f, S0 d" M
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the * B0 D: y, O9 c @2 k+ b
changing needs of the organization and community; ; M, e' f7 L, k- E2 j$ Z9 P
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 S1 I d5 q5 F' t- l3 ]
commitments; J3 k r+ ~4 N7 B( f1 B! `
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ' i+ i( f5 D8 S9 y
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 9 B p/ I4 ~* Y% t3 Y( T6 Z
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; + H7 g5 R* d/ `
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; / A) ~; n1 G1 F- P8 B( _( ?
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 G4 x! `4 X+ e4 q0 G
effectively and positively represent the association;

( U; Y; G! r& F/ u8 p/ {- a$ {7 i0 _3 w7 w• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 ]5 I$ v7 ~% V) C3 c
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
2 M+ F S5 k( E& w! O% d! {: C' L8 N! J• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 1 W" n! b% s2 w G
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED

" J4 b- V2 j$ J/ z3 A3 o• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical $ M* r! [3 g6 N
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 3 b% \* {1 K) N

• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task + x) u" K2 N4 H4 }, |1 B5 {; U0 `

Required Skills & Abilities

Required Professional Designation / Certification
* G3 L- @9 f3 Q. r4 d+ g: W4 Q• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

Required Experience
2 ] n2 w5 c- q4 b% y# `/ P• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 4 @& F, g# \7 E; C
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
! x& k9 S! ^ q5 Oabilities; ! w6 f- T" i( M% @$ D5 t/ U5 n
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
0 m4 [8 ~8 p9 Y; G" F6 sNetworking and Fundraising;
/ c+ ?3 G0 I9 |/ w• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
* ?" r5 F% w5 @3 K* rand financial statements; and

centered perspective.
