this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA 6 P5 A* g: G6 w9 h7 z6 k+ h
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities
) Y+ J& E# w% E
: J; H& L' {3 Y2 RReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
" n  i9 d) m- [9 b0 t3 zexecution of the YWCA Strategy - J+ e# L1 C+ ?" b: }; e

9 ~+ ^% T+ O. v' t# I/ JSpecific responsibilities include:  2 o3 s6 T1 @8 I% D# F( q- r1 E

2 N* x) c% O! X6 _+ y* a2 |; U6 k•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of + t% t7 U# B8 N3 X) X* o
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ! S" Q: L; I, C7 s# S' U
the Board of Directors;  
' F  p: R  C$ s% _* o4 \7 V•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 K3 R. S# P& P8 w
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
: ?% u; [! U! p2 [; cenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
* s7 M! p% |! a# |1 u# P, r8 B•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
( V" ^: F$ V. W) R, x+ Oobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
- r$ V. R. \) Y8 Y6 t) j& \! _the board;  : [9 X$ {% {& O5 g5 b
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
4 x* E; T1 ~) h# \•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 h' m) P- X# U) K8 M8 Zthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; - K8 H" g% ~7 m& J' D
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the # [7 e2 W* G; T
changing needs of the organization and community;
! [" R0 l$ y2 J+ f  R5 q4 M•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue # F' I- w! E  j; c- U* I9 x6 }
commitments; 5 o; t; _+ J7 r' J9 D" Y* V9 Z
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  . h6 m* H* J3 O7 R2 v" b
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ! B; E; m7 E6 F  x3 p+ }1 `
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  $ f; E& n7 l! ^) g+ v* X. L" ]& m
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( o) i9 |3 j* P1 t* y3 N
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# U9 t; S$ R& @/ W; x: feffectively and positively represent the association;   Q/ E; h" U2 p
' j  q, A/ w6 ~3 o2 s; j
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 1 K+ Y  N, w: S8 Q) l' O: A
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
# k( E. Y9 a9 x" |. f: y% B•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal " k, {2 D' R9 m2 p
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 0 }, ~& `. X5 b+ e: ?) F( ~( s- D
the forthcoming year;  , p5 G5 q3 L6 O  E$ b! R
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% z& b2 B9 ~& }! Z* p- Gpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of $ l2 O( y3 F3 c' j) Z& s- h" _! l
YWCA Canada; and ! H' F/ |+ ]# {, F& H" N, F
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task 5 T$ ]8 |' a' B. e
Forces.

+ }& c) s0 q* p" O8 LRequired Skills & Abilities
, A8 y* r. n7 \5 i: D" _•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
" d; M/ v& `& f: Q0 W; B$ |3 g+ u& w•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus 6 l& w9 ~7 t5 F' d  E! R. u- E, ?
around decisions, plans and actions; 7 V* n# k( l; {! f2 W- @" K1 ]
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 0 |. r1 u0 J( M7 O3 m
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
, d/ L% h1 t( w& r0 {- P2 ?and achievable with realistic timeframes; ; Z6 c# m3 B8 u! B
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks / \1 \2 h- `' b- M
simultaneously;
* I2 U9 X. c+ p; \. T' X. s•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
$ Q  a+ q5 s6 y7 X# x, hrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; 4 o# ?: i( V* M
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and   k: H. a8 J0 J" b9 W  q) P
•  Superior negotiation skills.

) d7 ~$ q- B* S  Q# s2 I Required Professional Designation / Certification 0 y; ]0 P3 V5 i2 M
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
4 C& V  G; y5 M / D0 v  [( K8 f3 l+ F! l; |% p+ f) j
Required Experience
6 m3 l; L  e9 }. l# L•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
( I# x6 M$ V$ ~( A•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
# ]" z: h9 `# k4 {2 s5 Eabilities; 6 N  x* O" e0 z- O8 \% q, r
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, " x( P5 i! U- [3 N' }$ M
Networking and Fundraising; 4 Y9 K0 \: Z4 w7 B$ I+ ]7 R
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
, C  t7 j1 p. X9 q% V9 ^, R+ }and financial statements; and + w- |5 M! i' f
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
