this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA
2 q, _$ H0 ?8 V* GEdmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and ( o* L  Y2 e! N4 X8 M
surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA : d# b" Z/ `/ q# \9 U( ~9 e3 Q
Edmonton annually assists over 9,000 people with programming that reflects the diversity of the 2 L/ B2 l4 D/ _' l

9 x, h3 Z2 w; X' IResponsibilities

9 d& {( n1 U$ Z3 }Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and ; y! f; g" T9 X7 z
execution of the YWCA Strategy $ r  y+ k; E" n4 Y) |

* ]) U7 M2 H" c) z7 }4 PSpecific responsibilities include:  
6 A/ w1 J+ d# g. Q
, O! Z$ M7 o) t•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
: _+ |- r, x: w% d. k' ~7 g7 e& Hthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 9 d# _( \' v2 {* J
the Board of Directors;  
( V0 a' T& |) u, v# d•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
9 l0 g+ l4 `/ H- ~& `7 [0 kincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
4 P: E& Z. b& s5 }, w$ menable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' }: b+ S: Q8 a4 }; ^( i
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
, j4 S) a0 ?; Nobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
# W5 B# `& k, Sthe board;  0 E: h+ M8 ~- a5 g/ D0 v7 ]4 y
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
1 ?5 B0 E- n/ ]0 E/ p8 }•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 8 x- h. M# ^( e3 D
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; 7 {. E! X2 u" i
•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
* |* F7 y/ W9 ?3 \: A1 ]  m2 Ochanging needs of the organization and community;
& z" o: e$ o6 N4 H$ Z•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
6 n% ?' ^9 \& @commitments;
" v# H" _# z) B: b& `•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
- Q: M% u1 m- N9 R! G  V7 O•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective ' H- m4 ~* n4 J7 l& m8 D$ y& d
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
, [/ F. i9 C% Q" N•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
8 }) G" |+ Y0 P) j; t5 b" W•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to . [1 P3 C# ^# W' i% B: f
effectively and positively represent the association;
* d4 G% Q! l7 B7 T* T8 O. k- R6 W: o  P. E
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 0 ~1 [" x8 ~) U& J0 z* ^0 R' \
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  - ?$ d) M. i' K1 b# e; s& |
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
. O, E3 N9 d/ ^/ |+ ?. x( ~, H# xperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
  m! x  s2 b2 w2 ~1 u0 F0 A3 {6 a% k* Wthe forthcoming year;  ) x; K) j7 y% s6 s$ w0 R( V
•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 6 ^) P$ a2 X# G3 [. v3 e
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
9 d8 u+ R% t( h; w9 Y2 Q: ~+ TYWCA Canada; and
; P# @# F, ~( m! g+ C•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
; \- D/ ]1 p- F1 V# |0 l( {* xForces.

, L- S, ]9 o! [* lRequired Skills & Abilities
# w- b/ c$ {3 h8 j2 b- w•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
* Q- Z( ?' f( x; `- ?% N5 \* g•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
* K0 b+ @# y0 Q/ E, u. @& raround decisions, plans and actions;
6 m/ o6 c  F& W( \2 Y4 R- z4 u0 h& ?•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; 8 e2 n5 B- @* _6 I( e! B8 d
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
" V' t# e; M; V/ x" ^. L' mand achievable with realistic timeframes;
) H! `4 w2 a9 ]5 J" y•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 1 E9 Q7 a/ t% |- J! x

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
( y) H! @# }8 K9 orapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; . y4 v- ]8 O) ~2 M  B- w
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ! }  ^7 t) b9 Y; g& c3 z; G6 o
•  Superior negotiation skills.

! L1 |5 G) C8 N6 K) j Required Professional Designation / Certification
+ X) |) E, t, k! L) ?; R( P8 R! m•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
+ j. i0 M% E1 |5 Z% @. B* ~5 _, k 5 @4 J/ y: K  @2 C; E' r
Required Experience + H$ I& q3 E: e) ^: B
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; , {/ P, d* X/ E- q6 M
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
( _! ^# r3 N/ K& Z) J4 u9 p) m* gabilities;
) Q  {- k$ _8 `1 r5 W•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
+ a! y; [- N% c: C* F; G" R4 }% UNetworking and Fundraising; & H3 ^$ j* x& N6 q+ Z$ g% j
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting $ e, D% `# X2 \* y8 ^0 L' D" k5 ]  }
and financial statements; and
( a# O5 `6 T" B2 q$ g5 U•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
