The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
: H; Q8 p n; A/ u- Z' E- B9 Yexecution of the YWCA Strategy : g/ Q& v# Z+ _* H

Specific responsibilities include:

7 ^! c1 H1 y) s3 _• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
3 F1 F P% ]! X: t. [5 t! x1 gthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by M) E) x' F, N6 `% V/ i! s9 Y
the Board of Directors; " c- {- v# L5 b! D
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations ; B; E) \9 C' @! ^
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
8 N- f9 V' Q7 {9 G& U- p! henable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
, Q' E2 |9 }# ^5 }& O• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 k: k0 S' g' W6 e$ q
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
" E9 r' a1 k; v, I! L6 \6 U• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
+ Q2 q( N$ C0 o/ w9 Vthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
% \, j" p" T3 T+ |0 K$ `% _0 B• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
$ M7 C# e4 O1 W, i- O. k* Gchanging needs of the organization and community; % f7 `* z+ ?2 `9 n& g$ S) U+ r
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
' c! l9 T8 q) ]0 C0 Vcommitments; 2 O0 u3 d# J% p
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 0 I0 o D6 s% c( B, m
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
( m& l' d- W9 x$ Y6 x- {& Nselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
+ a8 g1 ]/ d5 _* K; e+ \• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; * \! k- J# ?$ h3 o T/ f
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 0 E% t. V6 j, ~. W5 [- ~% Q2 M
effectively and positively represent the association;

/ o2 w1 `- L; r) g• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 5 P( n* t9 N! \* w* K" S, b
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; . e9 ?* u" l/ A$ e
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
7 r4 r5 i# }, Operformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ) c" H H! F/ o) o- o
the forthcoming year; & T7 [7 q* A2 `5 V1 W. G* P ~! O
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
+ e* |' h' O. B( e+ r8 j; R1 \. tpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
* d6 I/ x7 r# dYWCA Canada; and ) \5 k& x$ g: s- C3 \
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

Required Experience 1 ~. U4 ]' e$ R; C% t; [# ^# X
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
- {; p; k; Z( ]) W• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation % P" W5 c! n$ d u9 T4 Z. E
abilities;
6 \" Y1 o) L4 y: ~( R' A• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 s3 v9 C; A: Q4 x' [* sNetworking and Fundraising; * `2 m- Z/ B% q) `: w6 h; _
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ! s+ P1 f% k& M
and financial statements; and 7 z7 _3 u: R2 x4 R% e% r
• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 8 I! `& E# m: e5 V1 d d$ @
centered perspective.
