Two cutler –hammer advantage starters are doing the same thing:
. F% J6 h2 R; I After start 2-3 times, they will quit working, if you toggle the start and stop buttons on DCS screen , you will get another 2-3 running before they quit working again.
9 l/ Z( g# d9 ~6 C# ^+ GIt is a cycle.
& [: o7 d! V# j
! U$ P, [- z" P* eWe isolate the network control and use the local start and stop only, the problem remains./ S+ |8 u* F1 Y/ h& C* s8 y5 z
Swap one of the defective buckets with a good one, the new bucket works fine.9 {! P0 [8 y, \6 N" k' W: i z5 ^
The problem should be inside the bucket.
. J3 l) J! j* O% A+ {5 T: V9 j) B; n# ?- g$ X
When the problem happened, we observed that the contactor has a pulling action but will not seal.2 [' m$ m) q r& ^/ `; z" C
Use a terminating screw divers to push in the contactor, it will not seal either.! V; y, Q# o8 k' A$ [7 {8 P
Confirm with TECH support this should be a problem with the control circuit board inside the advantage starter, we bought two new control circuit boards and replaced the old ones, the problem is still the same.# g1 ]4 c! G3 F; B& n! w8 O% ]

The next thing we can think of is the coil, we took the coil out to have a close look.' ]1 H% f' W4 P7 @
They have a fork to pinch inside the two leads to make connection, it is not a good design at all. We soldered the connection and tried again.
/ a& P! P4 k. A6 B6 P4 S) b [ It is getting better this time, we have 7-8 times of running before it quit working. 9 [+ R, {: g! d, ]$ C' C8 a3 r

The coil should be the problem, we ordered two of them. But it will take 5-6 weeks for us to get them. 9 B% c8 o) _& W: V) v C

Do you guys have any input on this issue? |
