CALGARY - A fire has halted operations at one of Suncor Energy's two oilsands upgraders north of Fort McMurray, the company said Tuesday.

The energy giant said the 125,000-barrel-per-day unit was shut down after the fire, and it is currently assessing damage.1 V. R+ L& Q) Q* b

Suncor has been plagued by a series fires at its oilsands operations in the past five months, suffering three fires since October in the upgraders which convert bitumen into synthetic crude oil.0 \* m+ l3 f" h8 A. F! U

According to Reuters, Suncor could not specify how much crude the unit was producing before the incident.
