Responsibilities
" b( m* w4 r; Y+ K) Y+ m% I- pIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
2 H5 I4 a& s9 r* F$ gPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
' C. O" R% a H/ e( F" i/ AAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 6 m1 \; B6 E- J
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. * d8 p. ~1 N) Z0 g3 v
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 1 \% V0 x- F; x% |
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. r# L( _! d2 u# `+ h2 D
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 5 f2 G# |# \) z% O
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
3 H% q- T5 b" ]- TDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. e/ R J D. {2 f2 L1 z6 H( Y* ^
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
: h0 _/ ]; ^5 J. g% A3 lIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. - U y7 F8 d9 O4 [
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

# v6 p9 e1 U$ Q# a$ R6 gA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. - F2 H8 I& r) t! j9 | h9 `
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
- {1 u, e+ G1 f3 VPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. - P0 _# D `% o/ }; d1 g6 k
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
' l9 Z6 c( r2 q9 G2 J( DIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
& A0 i! U: H6 \( {% E, P" T( gProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
