In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. # r" Y' u) [5 t9 F
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
1 B7 j( ?* {) Y( m9 {Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
: f8 O: j4 M4 E: j; p$ g: b' G4 bOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. $ Y+ Y8 O3 d% n3 m0 r( x
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
2 T$ d- M8 i& x$ J1 C2 JMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
* g$ t, G2 H% q% |Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
C! x; D l- d, M7 dEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 2 p" L: j9 a* m, G! ?/ V4 c
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 8 \8 C3 q% t- ]! Q
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. & ~* d0 ^# [7 |
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
; H0 o$ e `6 V% m4 rEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 9 S D* g. z( S* |7 f& |/ v
Qualifications 0 @1 D; C' M( Y$ j
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. ' k" P W( E" ^6 g
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
7 G2 R' Z* G4 A" KPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
+ _+ `) l3 u% \$ D2 i( |3 T' n& JPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ) U& H% n- S9 j2 N( M3 o
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 0 N# t6 ?3 Q- O: w" F
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
