Responsibilities
% A* L. E1 Q0 s( r0 r4 j* u' X" FIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
8 f" C+ ?8 }1 y0 PPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 1 t. ?* F0 O/ h* k# c" f
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
+ \5 L' [6 z3 [" L9 U0 V6 E$ S8 dOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
, G4 r( o3 y* ?2 L" @Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
) N9 N0 H- H% K1 eMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
$ R5 D8 F9 V$ A4 JExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 1 F* U4 T1 h, d" ?& O0 d
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. $ N9 |* f; \" Y9 d4 E$ q
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. * T& l! Z1 H% u" G
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 3 e* E/ P0 F4 L& O8 P
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications
+ O" L5 l- m& M1 B. SA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 3 F0 f- w& G/ z
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 9 ?, Q- {. M: u1 N- M: }! ]
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
, J1 q0 f9 g" W7 E1 DPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. , _* }: M% h! W
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ' s- Q8 S7 t* x' e% y3 c7 f
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
