In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. , b0 S- _. o$ F1 ?% g
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. & Z3 H; c4 b8 Z5 X3 U8 k- R
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
8 D4 H8 e; R- _! f* q* QOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 1 m- r+ [ ~5 Y. l# ?2 j& _1 X
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
5 \/ M# E" R DMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
5 G' r" ~5 E: A8 c+ aExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ) M7 k6 E* y' i
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. + Y( T* e1 ?3 e/ E
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. - I6 R3 ]' m$ A$ ]1 W0 F9 H
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
$ o A1 p7 L' x. ]Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
: X5 F0 ]) W% X, ]9 T/ G$ qEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
$ H5 Q7 ]9 `. [6 O+ jQualifications ! l' {0 N" _5 f7 e6 X; K
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 2 j+ d8 R: s9 H8 T
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
8 N$ H6 l2 z7 u8 F. c$ yPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
+ \$ J7 V( m1 y) q! }' X7 e( hPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
p d* u$ b4 V9 I2 j; lIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. . u! ]4 ?# t+ W |7 e
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
