Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include$ e1 @( M( y- {1 Y2 X: Z# h' @& Z
Activity Planning and Daily Activity4 x H9 {( E! ^8 F
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.- N a- U* D- }. ^& [, d
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 1 }9 A- W1 t }& [
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
8 C5 @& H& L N/ n9 a• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.' U5 j# O* X1 w1 [& z" U v& F
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
; l: `2 Z' Q' Q3 _4 B/ m9 ~• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting

3 U% [: o6 q7 B e5 F• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 7 v0 g- _ j8 R: \' I! `3 o H# n+ K
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.- g" X% y2 X- Y7 P) Y
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.2 I- R: K+ B& K& c+ V2 J/ a
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
9 t+ G2 ]- D- h+ y$ n% Q2 g, |' d• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check , a8 {! C% x9 Z* _: y
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check 1 }; _$ E5 z$ z- _
