Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include
( X1 @9 D! K8 \6 ]) v% L/ _# MActivity Planning and Daily Activity
: I: N* P; {+ H& T% z5 I• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.% `- A$ _" ~4 W7 D9 G9 Y) o3 n
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
^/ d, E* E0 e3 d• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 9 O0 D0 h1 a) F- ~3 w
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.1 S$ A |9 S4 R8 `& E6 z
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.! L2 y) c# x! d4 X3 @
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal. k' Q5 S' P1 h2 K

The successful candidate will have:
3 r+ s: g; _& C• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
( }) Z( P) S' ]" n9 v• Experience with children6 D: ^4 u1 E2 o/ C% j
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
6 [: q: V9 S6 C7 X2 Z l$ \0 U• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.) x; h; @- v( G) B/ i, g4 o
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
! Q6 z- F" u e0 N/ I• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
! z# C0 r( s3 f) c9 f• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check ) F4 p! K7 X. n$ u1 S
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
) N* k, [/ ]+ m0 P* `& y) L/ Z" z3 `
