Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families.  Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

. v4 _! T+ r" x* {4 f(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

4 R! Z, V% f- R( R* L6 S9 U% mKey Responsibilities Include
/ e* W1 |! q8 \6 i3 n4 B! L2 }2 P* NActivity Planning and Daily Activity
* p+ c; L$ X3 [: a0 ?. K2 |•        Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their  resilience, relationship building and leadership.
/ _( r* {2 W8 w- l+ Y& N/ {•        Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
7 i* J& q9 c' F" i7 s4 U. ^$ ?•        Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer  and volleyball,
  N# q' A0 o# \/ s% U! Z( H•        Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
•        Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
) D) P/ Z: j+ w* j. f4 f! ?•        Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

) P' J7 l3 P- {4 K5 x. g! SThe successful candidate will have:
& N+ t2 K. ^6 Q( @: n# \•        The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
•        Experience with children
•        Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
" l8 n, |' d/ U: |( _6 G! c•        Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
/ V7 `2 j7 n1 C•        Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
•        Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
9 H- L, V1 r1 r# m" p  m$ B) d: S•        A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check  
  d. R6 Q' W, p- h/ S•        A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
