Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Key Responsibilities Include
4 S& D& w4 u9 m+ K) PActivity Planning and Daily Activity
8 H3 v0 w7 z; ]• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.( ]% p+ S( a+ ?: d4 h) C9 O( R
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. % C& n4 t" n! c0 a
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, - v/ m" } u0 `% _ i. \
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
0 d' K1 j3 X% E, m& K; n• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
+ U ~2 U2 n9 R" y• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.
+ x$ r8 z3 i; U# \0 y: u" ^# P9 Z% H/ \2 a. X
The successful candidate will have:
9 B1 Z/ ]' [4 b3 Z. r• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting" \, @- ?7 y. Q) O. x4 q
• Experience with children( [/ f4 ~- P/ d; Y; q6 X
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
L+ j% h+ L" a& ]• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring. m0 D4 {1 ?, z \& [! G
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.; y6 D/ L: v+ A2 V! [
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources0 r) l$ h% [; t; I9 A( b3 @- k1 q
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check ) t6 R. I. H) |% m2 J; f7 a
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
$ d) y4 g( X3 B& C5 g5 T S8 ^/ c- Y* ]9 @$ J
