does anyone know what different between postpone and delay?

When I write a report, some project were postponed/delayed? what is the different?

They certainly have similar meanings, but they are not interchangeable in many cases./ W$ f& r! O: @/ L* y+ ]

If something will be pushed back in time by a few hours, it's delayed. For example, weather can delay the departure of a plane.

7 o$ H4 H2 E$ o5 F# [6 ?  vWhen something is pushed back to a specific date, days or even weeks later, it's postponed. A business meeting might be postponed because one of the key people got called out of town.
+ [/ `, ?# b! T1 P% L  O" }0 S1 B% ~" X; B- K5 o
On the other hand, something like a product that is supposed to be released can be "delayed" (not postponed) for months.

感觉是从上级那里来DELAY,都是POSTPONE,下级那里来的就成了DELAY了。因为有人可以BLAME了。哈哈。。。
