" x: t& ?2 o/ DFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* m9 i/ } z1 |5 L7 k& A. [# S8 r% Uwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media % v/ B- ~+ r9 o9 ^& k
artists from Northern Alberta. 0 \8 h% V N# I8 Z: u
* g: v! w* [1 T& QFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; S( f+ X: N4 ~- R* temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video & V3 G3 O% a; m: m9 n6 W
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 6 E& g x& A# a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
f9 K# s. s. J& [screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive # z+ M0 k2 R6 O
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 9 v$ \7 @% V! X) i N
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 8 O# X1 d+ O5 H8 t; e
* B; d/ t1 [& X% ~8 O" lDuties: + t' }+ ]6 i$ f7 k3 F9 O
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
7 v4 S. a, ^+ N* o$ B7 S9 P- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! ]- r, d/ G& J" Y4 h& \! ]+ @7 J# G- Assist with equipment maintenance
. y+ j# f& i4 e+ X1 i1 D- Assist with production logistics for programming events h! l7 _4 T/ k L6 a! U
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
) p/ w( O# d6 u2 ]' ^3 N- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: 9 J7 H J% B% P0 \4 u! c0 K* V. N
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts $ q/ l; z- W6 `8 @1 c- t; ]
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
( G w, l$ W3 v) e+ l- Advance organizational and research skills - ]$ D6 F4 p! H* j0 B3 ]6 Y! }
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 5 j' L; \6 f8 e
- Strong team player abilities * C" ^3 s; H# R; y C" s+ z
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors + o9 G/ C9 i# Y+ ^
