FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
8 g$ G' J3 `/ s) e' m5 _whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
! }* G, F+ c. X- `) k' O# U; F2 cartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
8 C& R/ N% f% e! P+ w! ~3 H- xemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video # H& _/ L" M9 _* H& q
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 3 R: v4 K3 H4 ]/ y
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 4 P: g7 e- f/ y
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
J4 [# D3 v, p: B& `4 I5 s; rassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
% ~8 O3 ?: f7 \6 p) h3 F1 R 6 r5 U& t1 d7 P0 h. S1 @5 y
Duties: 4 Y# N% ?! W( y' {
- Assist with research on acquisition grants 4 P2 T( S" {% c* T- F @8 L
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
$ K: R+ A2 C$ d5 ^- I7 t- Assist with equipment maintenance % C, `0 b U( g: ]; x
- Assist with production logistics for programming events : f$ L+ K P x! Y
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
& ?, x4 c( ^$ x- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable $ P/ q0 V+ i4 Z+ v9 n; a0 I
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week 8 x. u% R# Q8 v/ D: }
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks 9 l; t# U8 u% Z2 ?- k

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
2 z& U. l/ L( F- K) j. t' F- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 6 X# e/ [( {2 b: p. C0 E5 D
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
3 |7 N% W: r: X; [) m$ g+ l- Advance organizational and research skills 0 s( X/ |" O- S/ ^
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
( x( B3 C7 Z* R* r. q- Strong team player abilities
' R8 B$ D5 u/ Y; s/ [( F) r% E- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors + J( L" R6 H$ W1 x5 ]. z8 a1 H
