" x: t& ?2 o/ DFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* m9 i/ }  z1 |5 L7 k& A. [# S8 r% Uwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

* g: v! w* [1 T& QFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; S( f+ X: N4 ~- R* temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
  f9 K# s. s. J& [screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
$ x9 \' G: i! W( [Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

* B; d/ t1 [& X% ~8 O" lDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
7 v4 S. a, ^+ N* o$ B7 S9 P- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! ]- r, d/ G& J" Y4 h& \! ]+ @7 J# G- Assist with equipment maintenance
. y+ j# f& i4 e+ X1 i1 D- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
) p/ w( O# d6 u2 ]' ^3 N- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

; U3 ~/ x3 {3 Y6 {: M' }% V- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment

% _( i$ c$ k& H' s- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
% b! F  V) s9 s  x9 Z; a- b- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
( G  w, l$ W3 v) e+ l- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
