FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

, q/ B6 @) y& B# uFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
* t# g' {- N* }; k( Band media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
; U0 S2 G* M* V+ Cresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
8 C( Y$ ^8 q" r" t# x5 pscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

9 K" p+ X! L( A1 d/ K8 b( MJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
, P  j) S; @  k+ A7 v: XDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& F; k/ d" r1 t7 O: X! zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
+ @1 Q% A& {* z
Duties:
* g0 \& s1 U+ t  a- Assist with research on acquisition grants
6 `7 j# t$ v- @5 m9 z) }4 U- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
1 ~" M- t) G" K# ^- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
2 ]& T; X  p- s/ p9 j' V- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
% K  C2 J, \  S' _/ e- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- O! s) s( b! y/ H( l* p, u- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
% U' M( u& w- n6 h4 y9 l- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
0 q; J! ^3 O/ t4 B2 l- o0 ssecondary training
% W: `3 F; M& e; d- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
) ]7 ~2 c5 f0 s; W- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

8 J+ A8 s7 x3 L6 iQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
4 Y7 m' p1 t( H; y. n4 f- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
; y1 O( h+ N; c6 H, Y- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
8 I* w: ?+ w+ s( q# k- Strong team player abilities
  J! @$ l% U4 }* M- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
