Duties. q6 E: t3 p( K6 n/ f; L. n
, `- L3 I! \/ j) D6 M) X * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
" j" R4 L5 W8 p) r. w% V * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis, t: A# G; d* O6 u$ A p- Y
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance! J& _: V9 V" n5 U2 n
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students * ^+ Y; I: e! L5 @. ~% ~+ I
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies/ D4 G5 o& q( l6 _
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
+ @4 E+ V d, M+ a * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications
0 C+ _6 |9 f) n2 E% U5 \$ j# s3 B% q% P
* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
$ n$ i5 h; @/ Y: I7 \7 G( c * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
