Duties
4 E; c5 o+ w% W+ n8 }/ J& I! U- v) V. k4 j8 m1 {- ^
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
. X) U6 A6 S" X1 P * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
; P5 ~9 A! a a' ?" {! v4 g * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
2 c! k% E$ d- k1 f * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
A0 `4 D& N9 C- S) _: J5 X * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
; z) q( T; Z B3 g- D* E * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
