A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.7 w4 K$ v# r1 F$ {5 g9 E
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
4 J3 N' V1 q' e8 l: Z4 gknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions. i( ]2 \* `5 e9 I, q0 L$ \2 R
The program includes the following elements:3 g) f/ @" g; z
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
1 f# f) ?; X5 s) {• Standard Child Care First Aid
) a6 r2 N6 Z1 d9 B/ q7 |• WHMIS
( `4 ]2 z! q- o: G3 @% j• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care0 A( W" x" ~: @8 I ]
• Components to improve communication skills' q: w+ d5 w. `7 j, S2 o" Q
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search( }! n8 X8 W! r* H. _& ?
• Practicum Placements5 |- s" N! k9 n' m1 B
Eligibility Criteria
/ n! p m# y0 q# _+ e• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
) s1 W& J1 P6 E) o) {* s4 \of Canada
, i& f0 M4 r& A/ Y* k$ ?% Q( {1 C• have a Social Insurance Number
) Z, O( G, f0 T• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check* S2 O- k0 Z; Q, @9 e# T
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent" ~/ V2 J: a- P; d% L r: {) T9 ?- q& I
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
# w w9 q' {. Q. y7 z; R* C' r- |the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:

They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
