A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.5 _& c( H( }- Z& F
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
) T- i T0 E0 _- C( J: Wknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.4 x3 Q( ~$ |) h+ {; y( T7 r
The program includes the following elements:
' X/ m0 L) a& m4 n. e# h x' k• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)8 b- c2 ?" X! G' a1 y' }- j
• Standard Child Care First Aid: J; x0 G I p& C5 {
• WHMIS
* Y; w0 H8 w3 B# _" {• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care' R- C5 @# x1 M) G; C6 v Z2 R
• Components to improve communication skills
( L! s0 E5 K! L: t2 x• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search) {6 h7 b, k) c C7 ~+ p
• Practicum Placements

• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
% W8 p2 a2 i/ J# uof Canada
5 m% Q5 E2 k) z4 }• have a Social Insurance Number
, }9 o# B8 K( e2 p: W• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check0 A, ?; ^7 w( j0 g" V
• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
# P( m4 I' {0 m$ C* F• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet, k9 c$ J4 \6 I* N% j5 E7 q: O
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:

They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
