In the first incident, a 30-year-old man is dead in what police are calling a "gang motivated" shooting near Whitemud Drive, the Edmonton Police Service said in a press release.- P0 P `+ p) k3 b

At approximately 2:20 a.m. MT, the EPS responded to a call of shots fired at a silver Infiniti near a Whitemud Drive overpass at 170th Street.

The driver of the car was found dead at the scene.

One male passenger fled from the vehicle before police arrived, and reports indicate a small white car was seen fleeing the scene after the shots were fired.

1 man dead in stabbing
' H" d0 H; I/ N+ S& ^2 B; VMeanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release.

9 M3 }; S3 G2 Y' c E- oAt approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue.$ y+ Z6 t) P# T$ t) n0 M) O
) ~( c6 t @3 aUpon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.

! c3 H9 ~5 t0 n9 I2 S p) EHe was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

G% N9 a- SA police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.
