Duties

* Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program4 ^* S3 q9 G8 u5 S1 ]0 _
* Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities
, V# ? ? i) R. } * Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes1 i7 w) X7 L- ^( a$ E9 p: }& R$ x
* Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat
, ]( J4 l4 G m) W * Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders$ R' z+ f9 J' l, l: t; E
* Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements
1 c& U, Q' `9 ` * Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs
2 g2 E( |9 C; g }% d * Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director

* Develops high quality promotional and educational materials+ a5 f! Y$ N4 l
* Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media

* Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies9 M4 a. \; w' g

Qualifications4 R5 X0 p, G; c: R
2 m0 s s# W( H$ I$ W' M * Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred8 `2 c; i! I, Q: K% J
* Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth3 E; J: U0 t5 s) i2 E2 A, }
* Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset- O# z: z2 Y7 Q/ {+ p/ v
* Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies+ A( A9 H* n% H$ I! \/ r/ I& U
* Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills! {# E/ h- P9 c8 a
* Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning
