( d! O4 V0 E( g- p! X    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
6 ?; L5 w; Q& Z( Q- ]    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
) ?, |8 ]& N& H    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
/ V1 I; K  ]+ l/ y9 ]5 s) d2 E    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
) [0 R/ |$ g' t8 K/ h/ B; }    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director) f) L: _* e3 e/ J4 Z5 ?! S
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
8 H8 B( f( G: Z9 g( C" n  d5 O+ x    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
9 i) x5 A! V# Z  r' U8 ?    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
7 X2 `4 U5 \0 I  d# Z    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment/ @) Z* `0 y; q. d* |" t
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
  v, G* q/ l! D/ N7 t    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
7 D8 W9 |' `# Y. I" \    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
. a1 z& O% }2 f& l/ i. d9 h+ u    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
# m1 q4 S, D" A& R4 _7 @    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications- X2 v- G' n( ^; N, s4 H

/ e) z: i* |' b! u5 l    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
* h( b1 U! S& f# p    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
7 P# D: L" V$ r    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
2 U" @3 z7 r% R6 v5 ~+ k) h    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
# s* \) d. S1 \% J# f& ]    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
6 L' _) Q, q2 x    * Fundraising skills an asset
) X: r( ^" m$ [: n    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
' Q' e+ [* A/ u5 m% F& z& c    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills6 s. S- q5 l& t- N8 c' n  @
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills9 v  H6 C( ?  Y, O$ k
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
7 f; x9 g: H" b    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset% s' Y6 A: n3 Q# h" M* U
