* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
5 K$ j" I( |$ q2 p% A * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography) i8 X: J4 m+ H) M+ l
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques/ T8 `3 ~0 z- A
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
2 Z, T3 R2 _# s * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
8 Z! x/ C) N; W' V * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
" Z/ W/ a! b7 d) S, k, ~# H2 } * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab. q8 G% u) N4 _) W
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices Z1 X5 R' D1 ^: H0 p
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)( {$ V" r' ]; C% {) b5 a9 a

Qualifications
! q; \' S* q! {- e3 O: Z$ z" w9 m3 z, q$ a3 o3 @( n! s
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred+ b1 p& Z4 b& S- s8 A
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
8 h1 U1 D; o& X0 `- \& s$ e * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel. v; H( O) U' g) Q* n
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures! j3 Q5 |3 i) x6 l; d( t5 `
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment! D" }0 W, E9 `5 I. c
