* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
( y8 t0 \% A+ D4 d; S9 ]* c * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography; X8 k! ^% a U- p8 r( g
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
2 C. ~$ a, B- \+ m * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
+ _% g" F- |0 O+ F3 Z * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
: [& ~7 N; b9 E( E * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
+ c4 D! j7 l7 s! E, @ * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab9 s) C5 l" b! e( |# v8 e3 @
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices; \: w& V/ z' }5 e$ y- h- S# w
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)1 a% x: Q( S7 f. O* {

Qualifications
. b# f2 r; ?7 e+ x% b; K1 v: e+ B
/ w- N5 b6 `6 Q, C R6 a. y/ O * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
/ ^3 r- Y+ \1 Q; j * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
+ Z# A* k7 w+ q/ J$ Y( ^ * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
% f) _6 _1 \* F( ? * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures* D( {, m* S$ ^$ u) i" e
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
