Duties+ _: e, O$ }$ S+ Z9 r( b
' n" K3 V' j8 x! ~* o$ _# h * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis8 `' b. Y1 `: ^ V$ L. k
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography9 z7 t: ?, Z( B6 r
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
5 }1 b% w4 U. X" G5 [! b& { * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
$ I: Y) y# M- ~+ i( }+ {- }4 m * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
1 _0 y' O' \6 @4 U * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals" O- i* W! a" D) `
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
: N, q7 G+ g" k2 J0 T" o7 ~ * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
, K7 z, ]7 `7 v3 N! e1 P. l7 X * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)( Y3 Q b% V, A) \

! t9 ?# K" c& p& P0 N, F
7 c) o8 ~, k. s( C- y * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred8 F1 _3 O! ^7 H8 u6 j$ p
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab): \8 x& g$ ~" M; P' g8 {. Z
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
" v3 [+ {" B7 | * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
2 A- g4 G. |9 a! H7 n * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
