Duties

8 F+ I# v/ U+ W. q7 n% e * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
7 M9 _" c5 ?- D) r/ Z) ] * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
, p0 n$ @, t0 j * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
8 M. f2 |1 g4 `9 V, o * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
, Q, E" l# D3 \8 j7 h) g+ ]( Z5 \ * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry4 x; f, @; f" f- I
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals4 a) E# V. L% \
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
! ^. [! ]2 _, H" u5 _8 ] * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices5 I: e) K8 r+ i% R6 E& ~& p) S
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)( q7 ?: F7 G8 X( @# v. j, P Q) _

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred# ?9 K3 |9 G. W- ?$ f9 w d) O
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)

* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures4 h* [; j( Y% @6 x# N! o
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment/ l n: E1 c( z! ^9 V) L
