Duties

: t+ C0 c) M2 V6 @ * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
9 c6 j5 E7 i! I' Y) Q+ ^: y * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography& O0 k) f2 R! e! h% A& d. y
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
* a: y: h* q2 p/ N3 e * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client- ? H8 B7 R! i; }
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry$ _, J; }" H7 d4 q8 @$ L& Z
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals8 `+ I1 l5 e* D6 Q5 d# N0 C
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab- j4 F2 A3 Q9 @
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices! C2 Q/ a, R8 _ @- o
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
2 Y# w9 g5 d1 V4 o7 } * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
# y* Z+ ]% \& g) A- ~) M, D * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
+ e/ j! M# I6 t1 j: N3 W5 ` | * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures: o5 M* \+ m8 O/ \$ C
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
