T3 X+ h9 o3 b. d: B  HAs part of the City of Edmonton's Newcomer Internship Program, we are seeking a highly motivated internationally trained Accountant to work as an intern for a period of 11 months.  The objective of this program is to provide foreign trained professionals with meaningful Canadian work experience related to their qualifications, skills and experience. 5 U3 i7 e4 t( h8 L/ J( X3 ^- a
* r' X$ L& J- ]7 a
Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Accountants Payable and Receivable, you will perform professional/senior technical accounting work involving control over processing and maintenance of complex and diverse accounts receivable and billing financial systems and records.  This may include:
. C) l1 D$ `( u2 `•        Assisting in reviewing the overall accounting system and inter-related financial processes within a diversified accounting environment
) R5 N( A" k& d1 N( T* |•        Developing performance reports, including monthly billing and collection activity, customer profile, and specialized reports including year end financial statements6 W, ~7 A; Y* i
•        Providing technical and professional advice and assistance to business are officials in matters of financial policies and procedures under the shared services delivery module
0 U4 d/ ^1 f% t) Z( h- W•        Performing complex trend analysis, transactional analysis and reconciliation's
( c8 ~. u2 w& c3 o+ @$ v•        Applying a high level of analysis in providing value added AP/AR services and recommendations to customers

) \- ?, I, R# z; n•        University degree obtained outside of Canada (bachelor or applied) in an accounting-related discipline
" |, H. d4 L! E1 ^0 q* L* A•        Working towards a Canadian accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA) would be considered an asset6 r) }, A$ X" X% t' D$ L
•        Three (3) years of progressively responsible international accounting experience% W3 Q1 c3 S0 p6 l
•        A basic working knowledge of Corporate Financial Systems
  q/ E& \8 t& h! o* W•        Demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets: B- z8 C2 q& w% R
•        Demonstrated ability to deal courteously with the public and make decisions within established policies6 p- X1 {( K( v0 ^
•        A basic knowledge of accounting, administrative procedures and regulations including GAAP and GST3 {# e' b8 i5 H
•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
! a, M) W4 _% D: W- ~Hours of Work:  33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Salary:  $27.00 hourly
