JERUSALEM - Israel is sending disaster relief to China.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel says a plane is on the way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake.

1 e. j! [* ?% t' _0 I }$ @9 lMekel estimated the shipment was worth US$1.5 million and said it was due to arrive in China later today.

The earthquake has left at least 62,664 people dead and an estimated five million homeless.
