$ o1 X# t. I' @1 w5 G! ]0 @; f
When we were called the Sick Man of Asia, we were the Yellow Peril.
When we are billed to be the next Superpower, we are a threat.

. C3 m& h+ t. f/ o' }4 W1 hWhen we closed our doors, you smuggled drugs to our markets.
( C1 l* W0 V5 ^8 J5 D1 m% V5 S! HWhen we embraced Free Trade, you blame us for taking away your jobs.

When we were falling apart, you marched in your troops and wanted your “fair share”.
% s4 y( T( ~% i& s) Q8 _When we were putting the broken pieces together again, “Free Tibet” you scream, “it was an invasion!”
& o- B3 ?; ^; R, i- o
So, we tried communism, you hated us for being communists
When we embraced capitalism, you hate us for being capitalists.

5 g$ N. ?+ Q6 x4 t& zWhen we have a billion people, you said we were destroying the planet.
* j2 S4 |5 M4 f4 H, gWhen we tried limiting our numbers, you said it is human rights abuse.

3 n; j" ~* e* nWhen we were poor, you thought we were dogs.
When we loan you cash, you blame us for your debts.

1 u. i) U' R1 \2 L! D6 MWhen we build our industries, you called us polluters.
) A. T1 x/ i2 pWhen we sell you goods, you blame us for global warming.

8 ^8 K: `, `- W! E# u6 UWhen we buy oil, you call that exploitation and genocide.
" i' r4 m: C2 [# F- B) tWhen you fight for oil, you call that liberation and democracy.

When we were lost in chaos and rampage, you wanted rule of law for us.
When we uphold law and order against violence, you call that violating human rights.

6 l  N& ?! K* ~8 y; z6 i- G; mWhen we were silent, you said you want us to have free speech.
When we were silent no more, you say we are brainwashed racists.

! a1 ?$ A7 Y, d: h  C2 NWhy do you hate us so much? We asked.
“No,” you answered, “We don’t hate You.”

We don’t hate you either,
4 o# Y+ |" w: X, e, vBut do you understand us?

What do you really want from us?

Because you only get so many chances,

4 W$ C) T5 F3 t! B3 J# oWe want one world, one dream, and peace on Earth.
This big blue Earth is big enough for all of Us.
