What activities will I do during my road test?

The road test is about 25 to 30 minutes long, including instructions and feedback.

· how to do right and left turns legally and safely0 W: O' k+ h, ]7 @8 ]
· school and/or playground zone times and speed limits

· how to hill park (up or down)

The road test will run the full time unless the Examiner feels that your safety, or the safety of others, is at risk.9 ?2 e l. ?" s$ o' \( j3 {
For example, if you do not show good judgment of time and distance when turning left in front of oncoming traffic,9 Q- G! X+ `6 g$ i; |) ~

· All Driver Examiners are licensed by Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation under the Driver Training8 e: M, f. h3 u5 O" L6 ?; k
and Driver Examination Regulation. They are monitored to ensure they provide high quality road
) A( d0 K0 C2 t, ?% r G( O1 ntests. They should be courteous and professional, keeping conversation at all times relevant to the' |) {1 b$ g l( C$ ]8 h

0 u R* g9 z! l' X· You must have your Learner’s licence. If you have a temporary licence (non-photo)
6 c5 l0 ~- k# `0 X8 W _2 p7 f' zthen you must also provide acceptable photo ID.
2 O! m3 A$ N6 q· Wear clothing that is practical for driving and comfort. It should be appropriate for the5 y2 ^, v. p/ B! n
weather conditions (in case your vehicle breaks down and you have to wait or walk).
! ?8 }2 P3 |, F. z% n6 U· Your vehicle must meet all legal requirements (good mechanical condition, valid
$ s. b( A7 z q1 f5 ]3 f8 u! iinsurance and registration) and have enough fuel for at least one hour of driving.

A Driver Examination Checklist will be completed by the Examiner. This document will contain the following

assist in checking the signal and brake lights, horn, brakes, and steering. You will be asked to describe and3 ], q: N# @' C# s
demonstrate two of the instruments or controls inside the vehicle, such as the hazard lights and windshield* L$ T- W5 X) t0 d- K: p0 E
wipers. The Examiner will provide information before you move the vehicle about the route and the instructions

While Driving …

· Points will be assigned for errors. You will be allowed a maximum of 75 points to pass the road test.
# n W( @! X6 L- }) N: t' [, mYou must not do anything that is considered unlawful, dangerous, or unsafe, (for example, speeding or not# K; [7 Z" f- ~- z2 f
stopping at a stop sign).
$ W3 [: V* i0 t: K: q· The Examiner will not try to trick you.0 Q6 i5 I+ P) k
· The Examiner will not ask you to do anything illegal./ w6 Q* y9 q, G+ U( _& E6 ]
· When the road test is finished, the Examiner will highlight the areas you performed well, as well as8 b1 L8 ^$ ?- I6 r* K$ q2 ?3 S' H
the areas you need to improve upon. The points for errors will be explained at this time.$ f6 O0 X8 J2 q& T4 y

Alberta Registry Agent to have your licence changed to a Class 5 Probationary Licence. There will be a fee for this c0 \/ f3 R% R+ o" ]
